4 Structural Analysis of the Text  This text is a first-person narration of an incident that occurred to the author on her home-bound flight, when the plane was hit by lightning. This text is well organized,with a beginning,a body and an end. The narration is concerned with people,with their actions feelings and emotions. The happenings are presented mainly in the order of their occurrence, i.e., in chronological order. The narration revolves around the characters and is dominated by actions. The aim of a narrative text is not always just to tell the reader what happened; more often than not, it sends a message to the reader, which,in some cases is implied, and in others explicitly stated.

5 Revision and Prevision  Have a brief revision of the new words and expressions of this unit and preview the text, try to grasp the main idea of the text.

6 The Structure of the Text The text can be divided into four parts: Part I (paragraphs1-4) Part II (paragraphs 5-9) Part III (paragraphs 10-12) Part Ⅳ (paragraphs 13-14 )

7 The Main Idea of Each Part  Part I (paragraphs1-4)  This part is the introductory part, telling us about the setting and the unexpected happening, and introducing some main characters, of whom the writer is one.  Part II (paragraphs 5-9)  These paragraphs narrate and delineate the feelings, thoughts, and actions of the writer, the acts of kindness of the glamorous young woman and the behavior of other fellow passengers on the plane when they were faced with the dangerous situation.

8  Part III (paragraphs 10-12)  This paragraphs tell readers what the passengers saw and did after they landed safely.

9 Part Ⅳ (paragraphs 10-12)  These two paragraphs constitute the last art of this story.
