2 Objectives  Review and identify the three P’s of marketing previously learned (product, price, place)  Understand the impact of having a successful promotional plan  Identify different forms of promotion  Demonstrate learned knowledge of subject by completing a partner activity and orally explaining answers.

3 Bell Ringer!  Quickly! Get with a partner – two people in a group  With your partner, write down all the of all the different ways a business can advertise a product or service.  TV commercials  Make sure to number each example, group with the most listed gets a prize.  4 minutes!  Clock Clock

4 Marketing Mix (The Four P’s)  Describes how a business “blends” the four marketing elements  The four P’s:  Product  Price  Place

5 If you know:  Nike- “Just do it”  Red Bull- “Red Bull gives you wiiings”  Skittles- “Taste the rainbow”  Snickers- “Hungry, why wait?”  Southwest Airlines “You are now free to move about the Country”  Energizer “Keeps going and going and going”  McDonalds “I’m lovin’ it” Then you have been exposed to promotion

6 The Four P’s  Product – what a business offers customers to satisfy needs  Place – the locations and methods used to make products/services available to customers  Price – the amount customers pay for a product/service  Promotion – ways to encourage customers to purchase products/services and increase customer satisfaction

7 What are some ways a business can promote their product or service?  TV advertisements  Newspaper/Magazine ads  Radio ads  Direct mail (junk)  Flyers  Internet ads  Free giveaways  Taste tests  Sales promotion  Sponsorship

8 Promotion  Did you know?  Approximately half of a item’s retail price is needed/used for marketing costs!  Promotion varies depending on the product/service

9 Promotion activity  Quickly! Pair up with someone, not the same person as before.  You will be given a picture of a product/service  You are the owner of the business that makes that particular product/service  With your partner, discuss the various forms of promotion that would be successful for the picture you are given.  Write answers down
