4 Scaffolding Language Intended Outcomes: Students are able to develop content ideas into fully elaborated paragraphs using appropriate linguistic devices Students can differentiate between formal and informal language Students are able to apply that knowledge to produce a text of the appropriate genre (e.g. a two-sided argumentative essay)

5 Scaffolding Language Prior Knowledge: Students have already brainstormed ideas on the topic Students have practised distinguishing topic sentences from supporting details Students have analysed a model essay of the same genre (deconstructing a text)
