13. Fundraising WFSC relies upon fundraising activities to help defray the costs associated with running the club. This may include but is not limited to :   Facility-rental ice costs.  Maintenance and the purchase of equipment (jump harnesses, sound, etc)  Coach Educational Opportunities  Special events Planned events throughout the year Typical activities include  Woodbury Days garbage pick-up (August),  Wreath Sales (Winter)  Butter Braids (Spring)  Scrip (Year-Round)-Shopwithscrip.com  and many others. Members interested in organizing a fundraiser should contact the club at fundraising@skatewoodbury.org for more information.

14. Fundraising Club Member Commitment  Annually, Woodbury Figure Skating Club (WFSC) members will have a minimum fundraising commitment of $150.00.  An Associate member (registered at a different club) will be $75.00  The club fundraising commitment year will be from June 1st through May 31st of the following year.  The minimum commitment must be met by May 31st of each calendar year or the amount remaining will be invoiced directly to the skater’s account. Fundraising Commitment Pay off  At any point in time, a member may choose to payoff the minimum fundraising commitment Fundraising Over and Above Commitment  Once a member has met his or her minimum fundraising commitment, he/she may continue to participate in additional fundraising activities.  The WFSC Board and/or the Fundraising Chairperson have the right to limit additional fundraising opportunities (once the member’s minimum commitment is met) for events where there is limited participation available to other members.  Fundraising dollars, including those in excess of the minimum fundraising commitment that are not from Scrip, will be applied to the general fundraising account  After minimum fundraising commitments have been met, any additional fundraising dollars earned as part of the Scrip program:  will be rebated to an individual skater’s account or a check will be issued, depending upon the signed instructions on file with the Scrip Program Administrator  Rebates are given quarterly: Sept, Dec, March, June

16. Fundraising WFSC BOARD AND FUNDRAISING CHAIR RESPONSIBILITES  All fundraising activities sponsored by the Woodbury Figure Skating Club must be authorized and conducted according to the by-laws of the WFSC, Federal and State law, and the IRS Code.   As such, fundraisers must be: Allowed by law. Planned and approved by the WFSC Board and/or the Fundraising Chair. Conducted with the sole purpose of benefiting the club without segregation or identification of individual skaters. Scheduled and calendared accordingly. Nonpartisan, non-political and non-denominational in nature.  All efforts will be made to provide a large selection of fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Members are encouraged not to wait until late in the season to volunteer for fundraising events. The WFSC will not provide commitment relief to members who are unable to schedule last minute fundraising events. The WFSC Board and/or the Fundraising Chair are not responsible for the cancellation of events due to lack of participation.  Please note: All fundraising credits are calculated on the amount of profit benefiting the WFSC. For those events involving time and effort (i.e. garbage pick-up), the credit amount will be the total received divided by the number of participants.

17. Volunteer Hours Policy All families involved with the Woodbury Figure Skating Club (Home Club Members) must complete 10 approved hours of volunteer opportunities. These include: Rink Monitoring (MUST sign-in to the Rink Monitor book) Invent and Chair a new fundraiser that has been approved by the WFSC Board of Directors Board Member Volunteer at the Annual Ice Show (April) Volunteer at the Annual Competition (October) (over and above the competition-required 2 hours per family for skaters registered for this event) Help with the Banquet (May) Help with the Test Sessions

18. Volunteer Hours Policy When a Volunteer Opportunity is a fundraiser that requires the volunteers or skaters and parents to work at it for the fundraiser to be a success, no volunteer hours will be credited. Rather, fundraising dollars will be credited. Examples: Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast, Kowalski’s Courtesy When a parent or skater comes up with a new idea for a fundraiser, researches and implements it, presents it to the WFSC Board of Directors and has approval, that family will be credited with ALL of their volunteer hours for the year. The fundraising dollars will be divided by the people who sold them at an event in an equitable manner depending on how many hours were worked. Example: Chocolate Skate Suckers With a fundraiser like Pampered Chef or Tupperware, the family will be credited the amount of their sales. If the consultant is part of a WFSC family, that family will be credited according to the consultant’s contribution to the club. No volunteer hours will be credited. With a fundraiser such as a raffle or sale of gift certificates, no volunteer hours will be credited. The family will be credited for the amount sold as stipulated by the fundraiser chairperson. UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED, NO VOLUNTEER HOURS WILL BE GIVEN FOR TIME SPENT AT A FUNDRAISER. Each family will be charged $10/hour for not fulfilling their required 10 hours/year.

19. Rink Monitor  Easiest way to get your volunteer hours! Policy Since 2011: You must rink monitor at least 1 time per contract, per contract session

20. Testing USFS test sessions are held usually held 2 times each year. Other clubs in the TCFSA (Twin City Figure Skating Association) offer testing as well and these can be found on the TCFSA.com website. Not the parents’ responsibility to set up testing times for their skaters. This is decided between the coach and skater when the time is right and with the parents’ permission. The forms which are required to be filled out and signed by a parent and the coach are found on the website under FORMS. Testing progresses from pre-preliminary to senior level and includes field moves and freestyle. The field moves test must be taken before the freestyle test for any given level. The highest freestyle test level passed determines the level for competition. Testing has its advantages in that it: Allows a standard progression through private lessons, Allows the skater to feel rewarded for his/her efforts, Determines at what level the skater can compete at USFS competitions Gives the parent and skater a sense of accomplishment from the lessons Test levels are described at the end of this presentation, which will be available on the website (skatewoodbury.org)for your reference.

21. Recognition Criteria Lettering Awards To be eligible to receive a varsity chenille letter, student participant must meet the following criteria:  The skater must be in at least the 7th grade when applying for a lettering recognition.  The skater must skate a minimum of 96 hours(equivalent to 2 contracts per session). Hours of which needs to be skated at WFSC ice during the skating season. Only WFSC individual ice contracts will count toward the total number of hours.  The skater must attempt at least one US Figure Skating official test per skating season, with the exception of a skater who has passed their Senior Moves in the Field and/or Free skating tests.  Skaters advance through the US Figure Skating test structure judged by certified National US Figure Skating Judges. The skater must pass one of the following minimum threshold requirements to receive a letter: Juvenile Moves in the Field Pre-Silver Dances  The skater must participate in at least 3 “public” events per skating season, such as competitions (Individual or Synchronized Team), ice shows and exhibitions. a. At least one of the events must be a USFS or ISI sanctioned competition. b. One must be the WFSC Ice Show. c. The remaining event is the choice of the skater..

22. Lettering Awards, Continued: The WFSC Board Recognition representative will collect the appropriate information from the club Test Chair and Contract Coordinator by April board meeting of each year. The WFSC Board Recognition representative will verify that the participation has taken place and that the number of hours the skater has contracted during the skating season meets the lettering criteria. The Board representative will then propose to the Board the list of awardees for the season just completed at the April Board meeting prior to the annual WFSC Banquet. The Board will then approve the list proposed. The Board may also grant letters to skaters at its discretion if certain of the above criteria are not met due to special circumstances. We will make no attempt to define “special circumstances” in this policy. The WFSC Board will have the authority to determine what these are on a case by case basis. Upon confirmation of the above information, the WFSC Board Recognition representative will purchase the appropriate varsity chenille letter and skate emblem for the skater using WFSC funds. The presentation of the letter will take place at the annual WFSC Banquet. Purchase of the letter jacket itself and the attachment of the letter and emblem are the financial responsibility of the skater and her/his family. Revised 9/14 Rev ised 9/14

23. Recognition Criteria (continued) Academic Awards  To be eligible to receive an academic award, the student participant must meet the following criteria: Be in at least 7th grade. Be named on the Honor Roll of the school which the student attends for each grading period during the previous academic year. The parents of the skater will notify the WFSC Board Recognition representative by May 1 of each year.  Upon confirmation of the above information, the WFSC Board Recognition representative will purchase the appropriate award for the skater using Club funds. The presentation of the award will take place at the annual WFSC Banquet. Test Awards  USFS tests passed during the skating year are kept track of by the Test Chair of the WFSC. The Test Chair purchases the appropriate awards from USFS using Club funds.  The presentation of the award will take place at the annual WFSC Banquet.

24. WFSC ICE RULES Everyone is responsible for reading and understanding. Listed below are the ice rules and regulations of the Woodbury Figure Skating Club. It is expected that all skaters who skate on WFSC ice will abide by these rules, on and off the ice. 1. Good sportsmanship is expected of all skaters off and on the ice. 2. There will be no rudeness to fellow skaters, coaches, rink monitors or parents. This includes name-calling, inappropriate facial displays, swearing or yelling, kicking the ice, or unwillingness to support club rules. 3. All skaters must check in with the rink monitor and turn in their cds if they wish to have them played. The skater must initial the book for attendance purposes. 4. Any contract skater who has not checked in for a session by ten (10) minutes after the start of the session will forfeit his/her spot if other skaters wish to “buy on.” Exceptions to this policy are skaters who have called to notify their coach or rink monitor that they will be late. 5. The skater may not enter the ice until his/her skate bag and other personal effects are in the assigned locker room. 6. The rink monitor is responsible for the safety of skaters on contract ice and the enforcement of the club ice rules. Skaters are expected to respect the authority of the rink monitor. 7. Skaters not using banking hours will be billed for buy-ons. Non- club members should pay rink monitor for buy-on before skating. Buy-on cost is $25.00 for open sessions (subject to change per contract session). Those wishing to buy-on may wait in the rink monitor box for the monitor to arrive. Skaters will be admitted according to their line position.

25. WFSC ICE RULES 8. Skaters will be alert for other skaters at all times. Skaters who are not alert pose a threat to others. A skater will receive only one warning by any coach, rink monitor or board member before being asked to leave the ice for the remainder of the session. This will be enforced even if the skater is in a lesson. 9. All those skating their programs must wear a sash. All skaters on deck need to be ready to begin when the other skater has finished 10. The skater wearing the sash has the right of way. Please give them free maneuvering room and be alert to their direction changes. 11. Games like follow the leader, tag and copycat are not permitted due their inherent danger. Synchro routines or team compulsory practice is also not permitted. 12. On ice discussions are not permitted. Conversations with other skaters should be held off the ice. 13. Skaters are expected to wear appropriate skating attire: no jeans, pajama bottoms, baggy pants or shorts. Skaters with long hair must have it tied up or back. Skaters are expected to reflect their serious purpose in their attire as well as their manner. 14. Skaters may only receive instruction from certified insured personnel who have been accepted by the WFSC as coaches. In cases where skaters buy contract ice without receiving instruction, they must be able to skate autonomously, without help from parents or other uninsured non-recognized parties.  Revised 5/15 ck

27. Memberships – Revised May 2015  Home Club Member: A Home Club Member is a Skater, Board Member or Judge who has designated Woodbury Figure Skating Club as their home club. This member competes, tests and judges representing Woodbury Figure Skating Club. Home Club Members can purchase contracts throughout the membership year. The length of a Home Club Membership is one year (June –May) and can be renewed annually. Home Club Members are responsible for 10 hours of volunteer time which can be obtained throughout the year. Some examples are rink monitor, help with WFSC competition, ice show, etc. Home Club members are responsible for $150.00 fundraising per year. Watch for fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Failure to meet the fundraising and volunteer requirements will result in an automatic buy-out for these hours and dollars not met. Club members have full voting rights.  First Family Member: First family member to register with Woodbury Figure Skating Club or the only member in a family to register with Woodbury Figure Skating Club. Recognizes Woodbury Figure Skating Club as their home club. Membership is good for one year and can be renewed annually. Responsible for 10 hours of volunteer time and $150.00 fundraising for the year. Full Voting Rights  Subsequent Family Member: One who already has one family member registered with Woodbury Figure Skating Club. Recognizes Woodbury FSC as their home club. Membership is good for one year and can be renewed annually. Does not have to do additional fundraising or volunteer time. Family is responsible for a one time volunteer time per year of 10 hours and $150.00 fund raising fee for the year..  Introductory Membership: Eligible for first time USFS members only. Must designate Woodbury Figure Skating Club as home club. Membership is only good for 1 year and cannot be renewed. Responsible for $150.00 fundraising per year and 10 hours of volunteer time.  Collegiate Membership: Skater must be a full time college student. Designates and represents Woodbury FSC as their home club. Collegiate member can purchase contracts through WFSC. This membership is good for four years. Not responsible for fundraising or volunteer time. Full voting rights.  Coaches/Judge Membership: A Coach or Judge who has designated Woodbury Figure Skating Club as their home club. Woodbury FSC requires all Coaches to have a USFS Membership, at Woodbury FSC or another USFS club. Any Coach, whether or not they are a Woodbury FSC member must provide a copy of their USFS number as wellas a copy of proof of liability insurance. The length of a Professional Membership is one year and can be renewed annually. Not responsible for volunteer time or fundraising.

28. Membership Continued  Post Secondary Member: A Post Secondary Member is a skater who has graduated from high school and designates and represents Woodbury FSC as their home club. A Post Secondary Member will represent Woodbury FSC at competitions and can test at Woodbury FSC as a Home Club Member. Post Secondary Members can purchase contracts throughout the membership year. Membership is good for one year and can be renewed annually. Not responsible for fundraising or volunteer time. Full voting rights.  Associate Member: An Associate Member is a Skater who has a Home Club Membership at a U.S. Figure Skating Club other than Woodbury Figure Skating Club. An Associate Membership does not represent Woodbury Figure Skating Club at competitions, but may test at Woodbury FSC test sessions with the permission of their home club test chair and will pay an additional fee per test. Associate Members can purchase contracts throughout the year and can be renewed annually. Responsible for 1/2.of the fundraising ($75.00).Watch for fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Also, responsible for. of the volunteer time (5 hrs). Some ways volunteer time can be accrued are rink monitoring, work skate show and WFSC competition, etc. Failure to meet the fundraising and volunteer requirements will result in an automatic buy-out for these hours and dollars not met. No voting rights.

29. Membership Continued Skaters registered by WFSC to USFS as Home Club Members: Home Club Members, Coaches, Honorary Members, Board Members, Collegiate members, who have designated Woodbury FSC as their home club. Woodbury FSC pays the fee to USFS. Home Club Members are required to meet fundraising and volunteer responsibilities. Coach, Board, and Post Secondary Members are encouraged, but not required to meet fundraising and volunteer responsibilities. We want to encourage college students to remain members at Woodbury FSC. These members have made many contributions to WFSC over the years. These members have full voting rights. Skaters not registered by WFSC to USFS: Associate Members, Non home club Coaches or Instructors. These skaters are registered by their USFS home club. Their home club pays the fee to USFS. These members must provide WFSC with their USFS registration number and home club designation. Associate Members are required to meet fund raising (half of what a home club member is required) and ½ volunteer responsibilities. These members do not have voting rights. Woodbury FSC Home Club members can register at other USFS clubs as Associate members. This member would still represent WFSC in competitions and require WFSC permission to test at their associate member club(s).

Freestyle 6: (Must have passed Freestyle 5) Split Jump, Split Falling Leaf Jump, Axel/1/2 loop/flip Jump Combination, Double Salchow, Spin: Cross-foot or Lay-back or Sit-change Sit, Spin combination with change of foot and position, Dance Step Sequence, and 2 ½ Minute program. Freestyle 7: (Must have passed Freestyle 6) Double Toe Loop or Double Toe Walley Jump, Two Walley Jumps in Sequence, Flying Camel Spin, One Foot Axel into One-Quarter flip into Axel, Jump in the Opposite Direction, Dance Step Sequence, combination spin that includes a flying spin and at least four different body positions with at least one change of foot (example: Flying Camel - Back Sit - Front Sit- Upright; Camel-Back Sit-Jump Sit-Upright; Flying Camel-Back Sit-Back Scratch-Front Scratch) and 3 Minute program. Freestyle 8: (Must have passed Freestyle 7) Double Loop Jump, Double Flip, Split-Lutz Jump, Flying Sit Spin or Axel Sit Spin, One and One -Quarter Flip into One and One-Quarter Flip into Double Salchow Jump Combination, Illusion or Camel-jump-Camel-spin, “circular pattern,” and 3½ Minute program Freestyle 9: (Must have passed Freestyle 8) Double Lutz Jump, Axel-Double Loop Jump Combination, Axel in the Opposite Direction, Three Jump Sequence, Flying Camel into a Jump Sit Spin, Arabesque/Bauer/Spread Eagle Sequence that covers entire ice surface in a serpentine pattern that demonstrates grace, creativity, speed and flow; Straight line dance step previously in FS8, and 4 Minute program. 38. USFS Test Levels PrePreliminary: Freeskate test: Waltz jump, salchow, toe loop, half flip (landing on whichever foot), half lutz (landing on whichever foot), and a one foot spin. MIF test: stroking, basic consecutive edges (forward inside and outside, backward inside and outside), spiral, and a waltz eight. Preliminary: Freeskate test: Waltz jump, salchow, loop, flip, one jump combination, a one-foot upright spin, a one foot back spin, and a sit spin. MIF test: forward and backward crossovers, consecutive outside and inside spirals, forward three turns, alternating backward crossovers to backward outside edges. Pre-Juvenile: Freeskate test: Loop, flip, lutz, one jump combo, a camel spin, a combo camel to sit spin, front scratch spin to back scratch spin, and connecting moves and steps. MIF test: forward power crossover stroking, backward perimeter power crossover stroking, three turns, forward and backward power change of edge pulls, and a five step Mohawk sequence. Juvenile: Freeskate test: three different single jumps, one of which MUST be an axel, one jump from the following: Split jump, stag jump, falling leaf, half loop; one jump combo consisting of two single jumps, a forward sit spin, a layback or attitude spin (for women), a forward camel (for the men), one combo spin with one change of foot, and connecting steps. MIF test: perform an eight step Mohawk sequence, forward and backward cross strokes, backward three turns, and forward double three turns.

39. USFS Test Levels Intermediate: Freeskate test: single loop, flip and lutz, an Axel, a double salchow, or double toe, a jump combo of two singles, a jump combo of two doubles or a single and a double, a sit spin with one change of foot, a camel to a backward camel, a spin combo with one change of foot and one change of position, and connecting moves with spirals, spread eagles, bauers, etc. MIF test: forward power circle and backward power circle stroking, backward perimeter power crossover stroking with backward power three turns, backward double three turns, bracket-three-bracket pattern, and inside slide chasse pattern. Novice: Freeskate test: double salchow, double toe loop, one jump combo of two doubles; a choice of camel, sit, or layback spin, a flying camel, a spin combo with one change of foot and position, a straight line step sequence, and connecting moves. MIF test: backward perimeter power crossover stroking to the backward quick rocker turn, forward and backward outside crossovers, forward and backward inside counters, backward rocker Choctaw sequence, and a spiral sequence.

40. USFS Test Levels (continued) Junior: Freeskate test: at least three different double jumps, one of which must be a double flip, a jump combo of two doubles, a jump sequence of small jumps followed by any double jump, a flying sit spin, or flying change (reverse) sit spin, a layback or crossfoot spin, a spin combo with three positions and one foot change, a circular step sequence of advanced difficulty, and connecting moves. MIF test: perform forward power circle stroking, backward power circle stroking, forward and backward outside rockers, forward and backward inside rockers, power pulls, and a straight line Choctaw sequence. Senior: Freeskate test: at least four different double or triple jumps, one of which must be a double lutz, two different jump combos consisting of two doubles or a double and triple, at least four different spins, one of which must be a flying sit spin and one must be a spin combo of at least two positions and one foot chanfe, a serpentine step sequence of very advanced difficulty, and connecting moves. MIF test: a sustained edge step, extension spiral step, backward outside power double three turns to power double inside rockers, backward inside power double three turns to power double outside rockers, and a quick edge step.
