2 The Discovery of Insulin
In 1923 a Canadian medical scientist and doctor Sir Fredrick Banting was noted as one of the main discoverers of insulin He was born on November 14, 1891 in Alliston Ontario In 1916 he joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps and treated many men throughout world war one While reading an article in a medical paper on the pancreas he became deeply interested in diabetes In 1923 Sir Fredrick Banting discovered insulin and how it could be used to help treat people with diabetes

3 The Batteryless Radio The batteryless radio was invented in 1925 by Edward S. Rogers, a Canadian Edward Samuel Rogers was born June, in Toronto Ontario He was interested in radios since the age of 11 and by was noted in local newspapers for his skill at operating a radio station In 1921 Edward operated the only Canadian station that was successful in completing the first amateur trans – Atlantic radio competetion

4 Continued After travelling to the United States in and experimenting with AC receiving tubes he had finally introduced a complete radio which used a battery eliminator (battery power)

5 The Snowblower In 1925 the Montreal based inventor sold his first “ Sicard Snow Remover Snowblower” Arthur Sicard was the inventor of the snowblower and was born on December 7, 1876 in Quebec This snowblower allowed the driver to clear and throw snow over 90 feet away from the truck or directly into the back of the trunk The invention consisted of three major parts, a four wheel drive truck chassis, snow scooping section and the snow blower with 2 adjustable chutes and separate motor

7 Frank Whittle Born June 1st 1907, Whittle was a British Royal Air Force (RAF) engineer officer While writing his thesis there he formulated the fundamental concepts that led to the creation of the turbojet engine Encouraged by his colleagues Whittle took the jet engine further, with the results that we now all take for granted.

8 Harold Edgerton Invented high-speed stroboscopic photography.
Born in 1903 in Fremont, Nebraska Summer work at Nebraska Power & Light sparked his interest in the generation of electricity, and so he chose Electrical Engineering as his major in college (B.S., University of Nebraska at Lincoln, 1925).  Edgerton and his colleagues designed timing and firing systems for atomic bomb testing, and invented a camera that could photograph an atomic explosion from seven miles away
