ELA – Mrs. Fulton Reading – This week we start our new unit with a focus on informational text, emphasizing Main Idea and Details and Text Structure (how the text is organized). Here are some things to ask when you are reading with your child: 1.What is the main idea of the passage or paragraph you just read, and how do you know it is the main idea? 2.What details support the main idea? 3.How is the whole passage organized? (cause/effect, sequence of events/time order, compare/contrast) 4.How is the paragraph you just read organized? Language Arts -- We will continue our review of capitalization, complete sentences, compound/ complex sentences, common/proper nouns, tenses, possessives, contractions, and subject verb agreement. March 2 – T-Shirt $ Due for students who were not able to order a shirt at the beginning of the year or who have lost their shirts. March 23 – 26 – FSA (Florida Standards Assessment) Reading/Language Arts – Mon., & Tues, 2/9 & 2/10 – Published Product, Unit 5 Wed., 2/11 – Vocabulary Test (1 st word “diligent”) Wed., 2/18 – Spelling Test (1 st word “ought”) Math – Mon., 2/23 Unit 9 test (postponed from last week) Science – There will be quizzes as we finish lessons throughout chapter 5 - Plants READING/LA HOMEWORK All Smart 7 Strategies have to be used to get credit for homework! Tues., 2/17 – Garcia Earns Trophy, p. 30 (Determine Important Information) Wed., 2/18 – Made to Live in Water, p. 119 (Main Idea & Details) Thurs., 2/19– Get Ready!
