1 TEAM NOTES FSA Informational Night ~~ Monday, March 9, 6:00 p.m. Families will learn about test taking strategies, websites, and additional resources to support their child in preparation for the upcoming Florida Standards Assessment. ELA – Mrs. Fulton Reading – This week we will finish up Unit 7 with a Cold Read test where the students will be comparing/contrasting literary texts, focusing on setting, plot, theme, and character traits. Then we start our review for the FSA, where we will be spending time on all of the standards, based on how well they have mastered them throughout the year. Here are some things to ask when you are reading with your child: 1.What is the setting, plot, and, theme and how would you describe the main characters? (for any fiction book they read) 2. How do the illustrations and any other text features help you understand the text? (for fiction and non-fiction) 3. What information in the text (words from the text) support your answers to #1 and #2 above)? 3. What is the main idea of the passage and what details support that main idea? (for non-fiction) March 23 – 26 – FSA (Florida Standards Assessment) March 27 – No School (teacher work day) March 30 – April 3 – Spring Break Reading/Language Arts – Wed., 3/11 – Vocabulary Test (1 st word “graceful”) Thurs., 3/23 – Grammar Quiz – postposed from last week (common/proper nouns, editing sentences for capitalization/punctuation) Math – Fri., Unit 11 Quiz Science – Students will complete lesson checks as we go through chapter 6 – Classify Living Things READING/LA HOMEWORK All Smart 7 Strategies have to be used to get credit for homework! Mon., 3/9 – How High Can It Go?, p. 73 (Prediction) Tues., 3/10 – Big Brother Connor, p. 74 (Prediction) Wed., 3/11 – How Do You Trick a Cat?, p. 181 (Prediction) Thurs., 3/12 – Casey Can, p. 182 (Prediction) HOMEWORK STEM HOMEWORK IMPORTANT DATES UPCOMING TESTS STEM – Mrs. Miller Learning Goal Math – Addition and Subtraction within 1,000; Multiplication and Division within 100; and Solve 2-step problems using 4 operations. At the end of the year, your child will take a timed test on multiplication facts. They need to start practicing their tables at home.
