8 Utilization within Industry 85% of all new applications are created through EDALA Major surveyor firms using EDALA (80%) Councils using EDALA (about 40%) –(Limited direct marketing to Councils) Used by all Referral Agencies About 3,500 LD Application/per annum

12 XML Project Initiative National Development Assessment Forum: –Development of national Development Assessment XML standard to operate between proponents and all Australian jurisdictions. Local Government Association of SA: –Supporting XML data exchange standard and process for subdivision proposals. –Promoting use of national standards.

13 XML Functionality Web Service Functionality –EDALA forward application, documents, and any changes to Council –Council forwards ‘response’ and any response document to EDALA –Council forward ‘Decision’ and any document to EDALA –Council response to ‘CoA’ –EDALA forwards ‘CoA’ Certificate advise –EDALA forwards ‘LTO Deposit’ data.

14 XML Process Forwarded on any change to process, eg Application, Decision, Plan deposit, withdraw. Council enter their decision into their systems, and results forwarded to EDALA. Document links provided by EDALA and Council and shared by ftp Web service.

15 Summary After 18 months –Good for the Applicants –Some efficiencies and integration to be introduced for PSA –Some benefit for some Councils Futures –Launch of Certificate of Approval process –Addressing Council system integration requirements with XML interface –Enhancement program.

16 DA Interface Project Objective –Using a ‘web services’ approach, develop a solution that enables the EDALA to interface with Council systems for Sub-Division Development Applications. Funding source –ALGA’s National Interoperability project

17 DA Interface Project Stage 1 – Develop XML Schema –Work directly with core Local Government system provider –XML Schema for data Transfer- EDALA and Council.pdf released to all vendors for comment (June 2003)
