13 © 2005 Quantum Corporation Jan 2007 A-Series End User Benefits Easy to Deploy Ethernet connectivity Plug N Play functionality Easy to Use Network attached tape storage accessible to every client on the network through Windows Explorer or other standard browsers Drag ‘n Drop file access & interoperability Addresses key weakness of block level SCSI tape drives where complex software and drivers are required to access the drive Tape accessibility at level equal to disk Cross-Platform Direct Access to Files Application independence No middleware required to read & write files All applications have equal and direct access to files Can use any browser on any OS to access files Future proofs content access Important long term archive advantage Enhances disaster recovery capabilities E.g. Cartridges can be moved from library to standalone drives for mission critical access to files if there is a problem with the archive system Data/content exchange File system on tape gives cartridges CD/DVD-like portability Scalable Stand alone, rackmount, autoloader, automated libraries

14 © 2005 Quantum Corporation Jan 2007 Additional Benefits for Pro-Video Users MXF Professional Video Value Proposition: Quantum A-Series products enable professional video environments to transition to file-based workflows by providing three critical benefits: File System on a 300GB Cartridge Network Attached Tape Storage MXF Aware What is MXF? Standard wrapper for video files with audio, timecode, closed captioning and associated metadata for professional video environments What do A-Series drives do with MXF Provide fast access to metadata Provide access to content by timecode –Allows drive to replace VTR in most applications –Creates new MXF file with subclip in it Not unique to Pro-Video Unique to Pro-Video
