35 Q A-Series ProVideo Overview slide35 © 2007 Quantum Corporation Network Problems Cant get to the drive at default Make sure the host computer is in the x range. Cant see the drive configured for the house network Use standard network debugging procedures: ping, etc. DHCP Issues Must know how to get client IP table from DHCP server, OR DHCP and DNS servers must be set to dynamically share the hostname as new IP addresses are assigned. Not Getting GigE speeds Must have GigE ports, routers, AND cables (all 8 wires). Check physical Ethernet cables.

36 Q A-Series ProVideo Overview slide36 © 2007 Quantum Corporation Likely User Errors Wrong Passwords Repair entries through the Configuration tab. Client login password can only be set through Admin Setup utility. Admin login password can only be changed on the Change Admin page. Attempting Too Many Logins Drive is single root user = read / write privileges. Login - root Password - password Up to 6 concurrent guests = directory contents viewing only. Login - guest Password - guest

37 Q A-Series ProVideo Overview slide37 © 2007 Quantum Corporation Likely Drive Problems Invalid characters, or file name is too long File names are limited to 100 characters, using standard alphanumerics, underscores, and periods. Invalid characters include: \ (backslash) / (forward slash) : (colon) * (asterisk) ? (question mark) " (double quotes) < (left angle bracket) > (right angle bracket) | (pipe)

45 Q A-Series ProVideo Overview slide45 © 2007 Quantum Corporation Apple File Issues - Every File Is 2 Files Files on Macs contain Data AND Resource forks Most FTP clients do not deal with this (they lose the resource fork during a transfer). Fetch shareware does AppleSingle transfer (slower). Our clients v1.0.9 and earlier lose the resource fork. Our client v2.0.1 does AppleDouble for most, but not all, files - v2.5.0 will address all issues. Filename (Data plus Resource) Filename (Data plus Resource) Resource Filename (Data)._Filename Filename AppleDouble (v2) AppleSingle (Fetch) Resource Filename (Data) Archive Restore Must use same client On Mac file system On A-Series file system
