The Writing Paper The key to doing well is attention to detail.
THINK carefully about each skill: Planning and shaping Paragraphing Choice of style and language for audience and purpose Sentence variety Punctuation Spelling
How the paper is organised: Longer writing task: 15 minutes planning, then 30 minutes to write Shorter writing task: 30 minutes total
Read the questions analytically: Look for a triplet word in the question or work out its purpose; Check who your audience is; Read additional information for ideas and hints; Make the beginning and ending effective.
As you write: THINK about accuracy; Keep your handwriting as even and tidy as you can; Choose words for interest and effect; Make sure your sentences are varied and are a mix of simple and complex; Work at a good pace: you will gain more marks if your writing is well planned and complete.
Critical checking Check for and correct: Paragraph beginnings, Spellings, especially common words, Commas in complex sentences, Capital letters for names, titles, There is at least one semi-colon, First and last sentences are super accurate.
