3 Hospital Experience ●Highly recommended for students who want to transfer to nursing o Looks great on application o Helps with the essays! o Volunteer somewhere potentially might want to work

4 Hospital Experience ●Kaiser Permanente o Multiple locations - Irvine hospital o Freedom to pick department  Pre-op/post-op, NICU, PostPartum, ER, etc. o 4 hour shifts o 100 hour commitment  2 shifts/week - summer o Free meal each time you volunteer! o Contact: kathleen.e.bunge@kp.org

5 Hospital Experience ●Clinical Care Extender Internship o http://www.copehealthsolutions.org/clinical-internships/clinical-care- extender http://www.copehealthsolutions.org/clinical-internships/clinical-care- extender o Hoag Hospital in Newport (other locations as well) o Assist in patient care & interact with Healthcare staff o 4 hour shifts/week  280 hour requirement o $100 fee o Interview & testing process

8 Certifications The earlier, the better!

9 Certifications ●BLS (Basic Life Support) ○required by incoming 3rd years ○$50.oo with HeartShockers, ○$50 + $17 for textbook with the CPR Lady ■ http://thecprlady.net/

10 Certifications ●ACLS, PALS, EKG/Pharm ○http://heartshockerseducation.com/http://heartshockerseducation.com/ ■$95 for ACLS and PALS, $85 for EKG/Pharm ■BLS $50.00 ■will come to you if at least 10 people!
