2. Liaoning I chose the province Liaoning because it was a very industrial province. Liaoning means the peaceful valley of the Liaohe River.

3. Location The absolute location of Liaoning is 41° 48’ N and 123° 24’ E. It is bordered on its south-east side by the Yellow Sea. On its north-east side is the province Jilin. It is bordered on its west side by Inner Mongolia. On its south south-west side is Hebei.

4. Place: Physical Features In Eastern Liaoning there is a mountain range called the Longgang Mountains. Liaoning has high elevations in the east and the west and a low plain area in the center. This is much like a double sided ladder that is flipped upside down. Liahoe is the main river in Liaong and runs almost directly through the middle of it.

5. Place: Physical Features (Continued) In the west there is the Nulu’erhu mountains. Liaoning’s climate is known as a continental Monsoon Climate. It has very distinct seasonal changes and has an annual rainfall of 714.9mm. Liaoning has over 827 species of Reptiles, Amphibians, and Mammals.

6. Place: Human Characteristics Liaoning’s total population is 42.38 Million (2003). Liaoning’s main ethnic group is the Han (84%). The next largest ethnic group is the Manchu (13%). The rest consists of the Mongols (2%) and the Hui (0.6%). Most people in Liaoning speaks Mandarin.

7. Place: Human Characteristics (Continued) One of Liaoning’s unique customs is The Locust tree Festival. This Festival is held in Dalian which is called “The Oriental City of Locust Trees”. This is a large and very important event in Liaoning. Liaoning has the largest economy of Northeast China. It has a nominal GDP for 2010 of 1.83 trillion Yuan ($270 Billion U.S. Dollars).

8. Place: Human Characteristics (Continued) The Governor of Liaoning is the highest ranking person in the People’s Government of Liaoning but, the secretary of the communist party of Liaoning has more power then the Governor.

9. Region Liaoning’s major trading partners are South Korea and Japan. Liaoning is China’s leading producer and Exporter of steel and many other industrial materials. This makes Liaoning a very rich country. Shenyang is Liaoning’s largest city and is one of the largest cities in China.

10. Human Environment Interaction Liaoning has multiple canals. They have a place called the South Canal Strip Park where multiple canals meet. Liaoning also has multiple dams but unfortunately I couldn’t find a lot of information because there was a lot of news reports about 10 dieing in the breaking of the Liahoe dam in Liaoning.

11. Movement Liaoning’s main ethnic group is the Han (84%). The next largest ethnic group is the Manchu (13%). The rest consists of the Mongols (2%) and the Hui (0.6%).
