3. According to the United States Tennis Association (USTA), nearly 70 percent of tennis is played on public courts. Tennis participation has grown 8.3% over the past eight years – one of only two sports to do so. The USTA and NRPA have formed a strategic alliance to promote tennis in public parks. 4. The City of Austin has public tennis courts. The City of San Antonio has public tennis courts. Between those two cites there are very few public tennis facilities to meet public needs. 5. The City of Kyle has an estimated population of 30,000 residents. UTSA utilizes a standard ratio of 40 tennis players per 1,000 people. Using this standards base approach, there are approximately 1,200 tennis players currently residing in the City of Kyle. There is a need for public tennis facilities! Local Overview

Citizen Survey Results 58% said that building tennis courts in Kyle are important or very important; 86% said that outdoor courts (basketball, tennis, volleyball) are important or very important; 87% said that areas for open play and practice are important or very important; and 90% support or strongly support upgrading of existing city parks for recreation and exercise purposes. 23. Donations With approval from Kyle City Council and Conceptual Designs, Staff can begin contacting individuals, businesses and corporations that historically make donations to facilities like this. Most of these donations come as “gifts”, “tax deductible donations” and “in kind” that do not come with special conditions or requirements.

24. Sponsorships With approval from Kyle City Council and Conceptual Designs, Staff can begin contacting individuals, businesses and corporations that would like to sponsor a court, purchase advertising agreements or provide merchandise in the facility. Most of these sponsorships require short or long term agreements, signage or other arrangements in exchange for financial contributions.

25. College/University Athletics Local Colleges and Universities often contract with Tennis Centers to use their facilities for tournaments. Facilities with covers are often contracted for “insurance” by these institutions to assure scheduled meets and tournaments take place regardless of weather.

26. Kyle Economic Development – H.O.T. Hotel Occupancy Tax does support special events including athletic events. These facilities that host tournaments bring more visitors and hotels guests than any other special event the City currently sponsors. Using the portion of the available funds allowed under H.O.T. guidelines would fund tournament expenses.
