3 Remember the challenge is to Start Strong & Stay Strong!
Experience has taught us that our unplanned event performance and injury and illness rates spike when we return from the end of year Holidays. Incidents can be avoided if we focus right from the start on safety and remember that life is fragile. The first weeks back in January will be safety focus weeks to help avoid the incident spike. The expectation is that all Leaders participate and ensure their workgroups and contractors are involved in this activity. Remember the challenge is to Start Strong & Stay Strong! Be a Leader in Safety everyday!

4 Remember the challenge is to Start Strong & Stay Strong!
Workgroup Guidance All Workgroups Overall – Work activity should be carefully planned to ensure that these safety re-focus activities are a priority for all employees. Complicated jobs should be carefully evaluated to ensure adequate resources are in place- otherwise they should be pushed out to the following week. A typical schedule should be planned to allow people to work more methodically- thinking about safety and performing the scheduled safety activities. Each Facility Leader should insure their organization is involved in these important safety re-focus activities The iCard Special Emphasis for January is to write in the special emphasis section of the iCard: “ I will work safe today and not injure myself or my co-workers!” Contractor Guidance Nested Contractors – should be included in facility Maintenance, Logistics or Operations activities for this emphasis. Non-Nested Contractors – Information will be made available for you to share with your employees. Implement iCard emphasis as described above. Remember the challenge is to Start Strong & Stay Strong! Be a Leader in Safety everyday!
