3 2 General NCMA is a professional membership society for people interested in the practice of contract management. 18,000 members across the country and international. 147 chapters globally. NCMA’s mission is to improve organizational performance through effective contract management.

4 3 History NCMA was founded in 1959 as the National Association of Professional Contracts Administrators (NAPCA). NAPCA merged in 1965 with the Government Contract Management Association (GCMA) and was renamed National Contract Management Association (NCMA). NCMA recently celebrated its 45th anniversary as the contract management profession's lead representative and association of choice.

8 7 Components/Chapter Monthly chapter meetings are an excellent opportunity for networking. Where else can you sit next to a vice president of contracts, or the senior acquisition executive of a federal agency, and have an opportunity to chat over cocktails or dinner? Networking in person, even in the information age, remains an essential member benefit. Chapters provide members current, professional (contract management-related) information at chapter meetings, in newsletters, listservs, and Web sites. Chapters educate and train members through seminars and workshops. Chapter programs may range in length from short, one-hour workshops on a very specific topic, to half- and full-day seminars of greater depth. Chapters help their members achieve certification by assisting their preparation efforts. Each chapter is led and operated by volunteer members. Chapters always need more volunteers, with roles ranging from chapter leadership to occasional helper at chapter events.
