2 Parent Responsibilities Loading/Unloading Buses Meal Table Supervision Movement of Activity Groups Supervision During Evening Activities Supervision of Cabin Groups

3 Loading/Unloading Buses Cabin groups will be called to the buses Parents will help get their cabin’s luggage loaded on the buses Upon arrival at the camp, representatives from North Bay will greet the students and parents. They will supervise the unloading of the buses. Parents will get information from the camp about leading their group to the cabin

4 Meal Table Supervision Students eat all meals in their cabin groups. Parents are assigned to eat at parent tables which should be interspersed Meals are served family-style The camp staff will give students directions before and during meals Parents can help encourage appropriate meal- time behaviors

5 Movement of Activity Groups Each Activity Group will have multiple parents assigned to them Chaperone’s main responsibility will be to get groups from one activity to the next Camp staff will run each activity, parents can feel free to participate, assist, or observe Students needing to leave the group should be escorted by a chaperone

6 Movement of Activity Groups Parents are encouraged to schedule breaks with other parents in their activity group during academic activities. North Bay has a staffing change at 3:00; therefore, it is critical that parents be available to supervise groups during the adventure and evening activities

7 Supervision During Evening Activities All evening activities are run by the camp staff Groups must have parent supervision during all evening activities Students needing to leave the group should be escorted by a chaperone Parents can divide up into groups and cover in shifts

8 Supervision Inside Cabins There are 1-2 parents assigned to each cabin There will be a camp staff member in each cluster of cabins in case you need help. Review rules and expectations with students at your first opportunity Enforce all camp/school guidelines within the cabin Establish and enforce shower schedule Enforce “Lights Out”

9 Supervision Inside Cabins Part 2 Keep students at the cabin in the morning until the bell rings Students do not leave the cabins at night unless there is an emergency and then only escorted by a parent Students needing to return to their cabin need to be escorted (wait at the door strategy) Parents should never be alone in a cabin with a student Students are NEVER allowed in other cabins

10 Parent Guidelines School trips are extensions of school- all school policies apply to school trips – No alcohol allowed – No smoking on premises (must go to edge of camp) Don’t Reach Your Limit... Reach for a Teacher – Never put your hands on a child – All parents have different thresholds

11 Parent Guidelines Cont’d Try not to separate your child from the group Make sure to enforce the policies and guidelines of the trip If in doubt, please feel comfortable to ask. Remember: they are always watching us for cues ABOVE ALL: Enjoy the time with your child, this time goes by fast.
