2. School Improvement Goal: We, all teaching staff at George Long Elementary, will improve all student skills in number and operations by 10% in 3 rd, 4 th, 5 th grade on the fall 2010 MEAP Math Assessment. Students 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th, and 5 th grade will improve skills in number and operations by 10% based on May 2010 County Wide Common Assessment. Students in kindergarten and 1 st grade will achieve 80% on the end of year Spring 2010 assessment created by the district based on GLCE’s in number and operations.

3. Objective 1: Teaching for Learning Teachers will provide written practice on the identified three lowest GLCE’s at grade level within number and operations strand twice a week, thereby aiding in creating a math rich culture.  Identified 3 weakest GLCE’s within strand  Provided example practice problems  Exposure to problems at least twice weekly Everyday Math, Supplemental Materials and Study Island

4. Evidence of Action Teachers are providing practice through:  Morning Seatwork  Daily Warm-ups  Calendar Time  Study Island Practice Not as consistent as should be. Continuing to revisit goal. Made adjustments to common planning schedule to allow consistency of meetings.

5. Objective 2: Teaching for Learning Teachers will evaluate and collect data from pre, mid and post year assessment to assess growth of all students in numbers and operations.  Assessments created using Exam View and Everyday Math  Pre-test administered in October  PDSA cycle at grade level to assess data from pre-test  Mid-test being given in February. Using the data collected a plus/delta will be completed and the previous PDSA revisited and revised.

6. Kindergarten and First Grade Two Lowest GLCE’s N.MR.01.10 Model addition and subtraction for numbers less than twenty. M.UN.01.06 Tell the amount of money in cents up to a dollar, and dollars up to $100. Use the dollar and cents symbols.

7. Second Grade Three Lowest GLCE’s MA.2.N.FL.02.10 Add fluently two numbers through 99, using strategies including formal algorithms; subtract fluently two numbers through 99. MA.2.N.FL.02.11 Estimate the sum of two numbers with three digits. MA.2.N.ME.02.20 Place 0 and halves, e.g., ½, 1 ½, 2 ½, on the number line; related to a ruler.

21. Objective 5: School and Community Relations George Long Elementary staff will organize three family fun nights that emphasize grade level content expectations under the number and operations strand. January 26 th first family night. Very Successful Night  K-2 & 3-5 Math Games  Writing Topics  A/R Reading  Arts & Crafts  Games March 4 th second family night. Most likely will only have two family nights this year.

22. What’s Next? Common planning calendar has been adjusted to ensure continuous review and planning of goal (PDSA cycle). Second family night being planned. Completion of mid-year assessment. Continue working with special education teachers and RTI program to provide enrichment and remediation. Administer end of year assessment K-1 grade and county wide common assessment 2 nd -5 th grade. Meet at grade level to evaluate progress. In May math team will revisit current goal and make adjustments for the 2010-2011 school year.
