Engineering Program Construction Projects Installed boxes and drain lines from Poinsett along RR and crossed Line St with storm drain pipes.

Engineering Program Construction Projects In concert with CPW, discovered underground problems with abandoned drainage pipes in the intersection of Poinsett and Miller. Plugged abandoned pipes and mapped functional ones, adding some capacity to the system in the area.

Engineering Program Analysis and Design Prepared a conceptual plan to construct a portion of Fernwood Street from the end of the existing pavement to the City Limits.

Engineering Program Analysis and Design Completed a design for improving the storm water flow in the Sunnydale Subdivision and began working on implementation plan.

Engineering Program Roadway Maintenance Program The roadway assessment program that has been developed has resulted in having our most highly distressed roads repaired. Completion of the next annual resurfacing season will result in all of the roads with an index of 60 or below having been resurfaced.

Engineering Program Inventory Data We have begun compiling our inventory data into zones to simplify the process of planning an annual program of inspections and reporting as required by our MS4.

Engineering Program Inventory Data Adding subdivision names along with other inventory data to the zone data base to ease the process of location and identification.

Engineering Program Subdivision Completion Some subdivisions have been left in a state of incompletion due to the economic conditions. We are reviewing where we can make an impact by collecting security and completing the necessary infrastructure.

Engineering Program Subdivision Issues We are continuing to work with local home builders to generate construction plans that will provide for good drainage. Examples are shown below.

Engineering Program Transportation Coordination Provide inputs and assist in public hearings for important transportation improvement projects that are planned by SCDOT through the MPO>

Engineering Program Illicit Discharge Identification Illicit discharges are those locations where there is flow in periods of dry weather. This might indicate that a problem exists and could be waste water entering the storm water stream or it could indicate a leak in the potable water system. We have identified locations where chemical analysis is needed to determine the source of the discharge. Should the discharge be determined to be of a nature as needing further measures to either reduce, eliminate or control the discharge in some specific manner. We must use a pipe camera system to photograph the interior of the pipes feeding such discharge points in order to locate and identify the physical source of the flow.

Engineering Program Illicit Discharge Identification The graphic below depicts a location where the discharge is continuous throughout the year. Since this the point through which storm water passes from a large portion of the downtown area east of Main Street, it becomes important to determine the source of the continuous flow. We have identified eight such locations to date.
