3 3 Situation (Friendly) College Park has several veterans, military personnel, and their families We are partnered with HVAF of Indiana, Inc. a homeless veteran organization whose chief goal is to end veteran homelessness There are a whole host of similar organizations Military Ministry

4 4 Situation (Enemy) Satan wants us to ignore our veterans, active military personnel and their families. Secularism and progressivism are big enemies of Christ and of truly helping our veterans, active military and their families. Military Ministry

5 5 Mission: Veterans, active military, and their families of College Park Church will purposefully engage and connect with veterans, active military, and their families to ignite a passion to follow Jesus on the home front and on the battlefield throughout the year. Military Ministry

10 10 Military Ministry Timeline –We will be collecting items for the fall shipping beginning in mid September. –Sunday, October 23 will be the box packing date. Volunteer needs –Box packing –Donations –Decorate 18" Christmas trees

11 11 Military Ministry Battle Buddies Veterans in a 1x1 battle buddy relationship Special training to prepare and set expectations –30 hour seminary level course –Care and Counsel for Combat Stress Adopted the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade from the Indiana Army National Guard

12 12 Military Ministry Timeline –Training dates includes the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month September 6,10,20,24 October 4,8,18,22 January 3,7,17,21 February 7,11,21,25 March 6,10,20,24 –The return of the 219 th BFSB is May 2012 Volunteer needs –Attend training –Two additional leaders to work with Rex Joseph –Leading Bible study HVAF at Warman house 219 th BFSB after their return –Mentoring HVAF at Warman house 219 th BFSB after their return

13 13 Military Ministry Family support Be the support network for families of deployed troops –Be there to listen and just be there –Engage CPC tradesmen for specific needs (lawn mowing, house painting, house repair, appliance repair, car repair, etc) –Participate in activities with the families Adopted the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade from the Indiana Army National Guard

14 14 Military Ministry Timeline –August 27 th 219 th BFSB family picnic at Eagle Creek –September 11 th – TBD –October 15 th Dedication of Franklin Armory –October 22 nd Yellow ribbon program Volunteer needs –Family games and volunteers to run them –Ladies bible studies for women of deployed soldiers –Professional list to volunteer services –If possible, attend the care and counsel training

15 15 Military Ministry HVAF of Indiana Monthly dinners at the Warman house Invite homeless veterans to church and get them plugged into CPC ministries. Provide fundraising efforts, food for the emergency pantry, clothing, and housing needs.

19 19 Military Ministry Timeline –Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1600hrs (4pm) –Canvassing American Legion, VFW, Churches, etc from August through November Volunteer needs –Feet on the street American Legion VFW Area churches Military units –Ushers Day of the event Jeff Hallal is the leading –Food Service Day of event Tammi Gant is leading

20 20 Citizen’s Memorial Day Walk On Memorial day Guide kids through the various War Memorials in downtown Indianapolis Tie together responsibilities of the spiritual citizenship with the national citizenship. Military Ministry

21 21 Military Ministry Timeline –Focus on God and the military for Next Generation in April – May –Targeted families invited early May –Final instructions week before in May –Occurs on Memorial Day Volunteer needs –Targeted families with kids +/- 8yrs old –Veterans to help walk through various monuments
