2 Indirect Object RULES:  will always follow an action verb.  will always have a direct object.  will come before the direct object.  will come after the action verb.  will be a noun or a pronoun.

3 Indirect object notes FIRST, FIRST, take out any prep. phrases, locate the verb, and find the DIRECT OBJECT OBJECT that answers what? what? or who? THEN, stop at the direct object and ask yourself to whom/for whom? or to what/for what? in order to find the INDIRECT OBJECT.

4 Rachelbought Tamaraa cat. Rachel bought what? cat=D.O. For whom? Rachel bought cat Tamara=I.O

5 Ross got a treat for Meow-Meow. Ross got treat = D.O. Ross got Meow-Meow a treat. Ross got treat for whom? Meow-Meow= I.O

6 “Like TO WHAT/FOR WHOM!?” Where’s the INDIRECT OBJ.? Dad bought himself some peanuts. Mrs. Cook sent Tim Tebow a fan letter. The ship’s captain gave the crew orders. My brother showed me his Star Wars book. They took photos from the train.
