Australia By: Sarah, Mariah, Mikhail

What are the issues? The issues can be as simple as population to the amount of cereal produced. The way humans live in general is to use the environment to our advantage. However over time we can see that it doesn’t benefit us... It’s unsustainable.

Population Data

What does the population affect? ●When population increases... ○ Power production increases ○ Co2 levels increase ○ More species are threatened ○ Price for fuel increases ○ Vehicles per km of road increases ○ Tourists increase ○ Forest area decreases ○ Renewable freshwater resources decrease

How Population Effects Global Warming As Australia’s population increases, so does the country’s global warming. In this case more people equals more climate change. According to State of the Climate Report, Australia’s temperature is predicted to rise anywhere from 32.1 to 34.7 degrees fahrenheit by 2030. At this rate the population will be 28,634,835 in 2030.

How Population Effects Power Production As Australia’s population increases, so does the country’s power production (energy). As more homes and offices are built more power is needed. Coal and oil are still the dominant sources of power. However alternate energy is increasing.

Australia and Agriculture Australia is well known for the agriculture being a $28.8 billion industry. Australia is mainly known for it’s sheep wool. It is also a leading exporter of fine meats and grains. Australia’s principal crops are wheat, barley, grain sorghum, maize, oats, rice, peanuts, tobacco, legumes, & crops cut for hay. Agriculture is a big role in Australia just like any other country and if anything affects it, it can greatly affect us.

How Does Climate Change Affect Agriculture? Climate change can bring rising temperatures, reduced access to water, higher salinity, & droughts and floods. More specifically, reduce the area of arable land, cut livestock, & affect crop quality.

Agriculture Graph

How Does This Affect Australians? The effects of climate change will affect people's everyday lives. These effects are: ●Rising costs of agricultural produce ●Puts stress on rivers ●Puts stress on groundwater systems supporting arable lands.

Projected Population for 2050

How Can We Solve This? Simple things make a big difference. (if we do it) 1.Ride a bike to nearby locations 2.Get low flow faucets in your home. 3.Don’t charge your phone when it’s at 100% 4.Support local stores or buy in bulk (less packaging and transportation) These are just some things that make a difference in time.

Big Things That We Should Do These are more ambitious things we as humans can do to reduce the impact on the globe. 1.Use alternate energy (Hydro, Solar, Wind, Biomass) 2.Make the switch to electric cars and charge them with solar panels. 3.Get news online instead from newspapers and magazines. (because trees.)
