2 2Title SNV at a Glance Founded in 1963 as Stichting Netherlands Vrijwilligers, “Sending Netherlands volunteer overseas” known worldwide as Netherlands Development Organisation Mission: Dedicated to a society where all people enjoy freedom to pursue their own sustainable development. SNV believes on connecting people’s capacities, by which development space can be created to fight against poverty.

4 4Title SNV in NEPAL Since 1980, working with Government of Nepal, initially under bilateral cooperation, Since 2004, within development cooperation agreement- MoF Initially, project based services, shifted to advisory based services from 2004 onwards About 50 Advisors, 30% international KLDP and MHDP – mostly recognized SNV in Nepal Supported capacity development of DCCIs, DDCs and NGOs massively in Karnali & Mechi during 2005 - 2009

5 5Title IMPACT AREAS AND SECTORS Two impact area: 1) Increase Income and Employment (PIE) 2) Increase access to improved basic services (BASE) Four Sectors leading to 2 impact areas Agriculture and Forest products, and Sustainable pro poor tourism – leading to PIE (impact area 1) Renewable Energy and Water & Sanitation – leading to BASE (impact area 2)

9 PSD and Pro-poor Value Chain The private sector can play key role to economic growth: By developing innovative and affordable products By promoting social and ecological standards (labels created by such initiative (e.g. FLO, IFOAM) act as credible marketing tool)

10 10Title IB: Linking low income groups with Business ◦serving the BOP as clients and customers and involving them as supplier, employees or entrepreneurs and consumer or distributor

11 11Title Our Partnership in Agriculture sector Development Cooperation Agreement with MoF Working MoU with MOAC and FNCCI/AEC Presently supporting (TA) in  IFAD funded HVAP – covering 10 districts in mid west region  ADB funded RISMFP –Surkhet-Dailekh, Surkhet-Jajarkot and Surkhet- Jumla Road Corridor Districts  CFC funded Bamboo Project Piloting IB in vegetable seeds, Chiuri and organic apple Promoting Orthodox Tea in eastern hills, and high value domesticated NTFPs in the Terai Improving supply chain in WASH and RE in coordination with DCCIs in Karnali.
