Causes Can be caused by trauma to skeletal muscle, for example if you were in a car accident or some type of crash Several risk factors can increase chances: Alcoholism Heat stroke Seizures Over dose on drugs Effects Harmful to kidneys, results in kidney damage Can cause large amounts of fluid to move from blood to muscle, can lead to shock and reduced blood flow to kidneys

Treatment hydration of fluids from IV Kidney problems should be treated if appropriate To Prevent – Drink fluids after strenuous exercise to flush myoglobin out of kidneys
