3 Brief History  Founded by Kevin Rose and launched in November 2004, Digg has grown to be one of the most popular sources of information on the Web.  Currently on version 4 of the website.  Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users. “www.digg.com” 3

4 What is Digg  Digg is a social media site by definition. Sharing a certain amount of information is important. Your Diggs, submissions, comments and favorites are all important contributions to the Digg community. “www.digg.com” 4

5 How it works  Users digg articles, videos, pictures and sites they want their friends and others to see.  Users can digg with a widget on the webpage or submitting the url. 5

6 Digg as a social site  Digg is a portal site with links to news and other interesting stories, videos or pictures.  You can follow various users similar to twitter.  The site also maintains a blog to keep users informed of changes.  Digg allows the user to keep all of their contacts from facebook, twitter and Google. 6

7 My News  Allows the user to personalize their news experience.  Can filter results to friends and trusted sources.  Ensures only relevant information is brought to the user. 7

8 Advertising  Advertisers create own add with url and 1”x1” thumbnail  Advertiser competes in an auction which is a function of their cost-per-click bids and the number of Diggs.  Users can choose to digg an advertisement or to bury it and not be shown it again 8

9 Why is it unique?  The future of news.  The news finds the user.  Integrates social media with news and information.  Always collecting user feedback to improve their site and services. 9
