Since 1980, the number of adults with diabetes worldwide has doubled. (1) There will be an estimated 70% increase in the number of adults with diabetes in the developing world, and a 20% increase in the developed world between 2010 and (2) Each year, approximately 78,000 children worldwide develop type 1 diabetes.
