5 Global Indian Scientists & Technocrats Convention It is a fact that 21st century belongs to Asia. And with all the Paradoxes that we saw in previous slides, India has a unique opportunity to emerge as one of the top two nations of the world. And a leading state like Maharashtra will have a historical role to play as a model and as an exemplar For this to happen, the future development of the state must be Science and technology driven. Further it must be sustainable development and must impact the lives of the entire population covering women, farmers, slum dwellers and the poorest of the poor. 6 Hence, on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of statehood of Maharashtra, Dr Anil Kakodkar, Dr Vasant Gowariker, Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Dr Yeshwant Waghmare and many more eminent scientists co created a movement called Global Indian Scientists & Technocrats Convention GIST. Global Indian Scientists & Technocrats Convention Socio Economic solutions have limitations in providing sustainable results, however “Science and Technology led solutions can provide sustainable breakthroughs and bring in Paradigm shift. It is Imperative to leverage this expertise to innovate sustainable solutions tailored for the specific Indian needs. The mission is “Swadeshi Movement with modern sciences adapted to national needs” Dr. Vijay Bhatkar is National President. Today Vijnana Bharati has spread its wings in 20 states and has 28 operating units. Maharashtra has four units in Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur & Aurangabad.
