3 The Energy Saving Trust Set up by UK Government after the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro Non-profit organisation funded by Government and private sector Head Office – St James, London Website: www.est.org.uk Aim to cut CO 2 emissions by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy

4 Green Fleet Review Programme General Free consultancy for fleets, funded by DfT Delivered via 6 home based consultants supported by an office based team of 6 Each consultant responsible for a geographical area. 5 Green Fleet Review Programme Objective of a Review To measure an organisations current vehicle related carbon footprint with clear and auditable metrics. Via detailed analysis of data, construct a bespoke written review which puts forward realistic and achievable recommendations which will reduce carbon and cut costs. Typical areas analysed: –Eligibility/Allocation Policy –Business Mileage Reimbursement Policy –Driver Education –Fuel Types used –Fuel Management –Use of Technology –Mileage Management –Grey Fleet

13 Smarter Driving Designed to encourage staff to drive more efficiently We bring advanced driving instructors and fully insured cars to your site Drivers given a 50 minute one to one lesson in how to drive efficiently Results to date show an average reduction in fuel consumption of 16.8% after training For a driver covering 12,000 miles per annum this equates to annual savings of £200-£250 Each instructor can train 8 drivers per day The training is available for a minimum of 24 drivers per organisation – currently no maximum Cost is subsidised by DfT, but a contribution of up to £25 + VAT is required per trainee

14 Motorvate General Government-backed environmental accreditation scheme run by EST. Members are recognised and rewarded for their commitment to making carbon dioxide reductions from their fleet. Success is measured through a specialised accreditation process recognising improvements via certification to affiliate, bronze, silver and gold levels. Provides access to: Consultancy support to help progress initiatives to reduce emissions. Auditing from the EST accreditation team and official recognition for progress. Support and advice including help to identify other members with similar challenges, data collection assistance and guidance on how to present the business case for environmental fleet management to key decision makers. A newsletter to find out about relevant events, policy developments etc. Annual members’ dinner and networking event. EST endorsement and collaboration to support PR opportunities and enhance environmental reputation. Environmental management systems to support requirements such as ISO14001.
