Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal 12 Long-Term Water Strategy Water Strategy Expert Panel  PIR is developing a long-term water and wastewater infrastructure investment and financing strategy  On August 16, 2004, the government established an Expert Panel to advise on: How to make the investment needed to improve Ontario’s water and wastewater infrastructure How best to organize and deliver water and wastewater systems and services.  The Panel will consult with key stakeholders, guided by the fundamental principles of affordability, sustainability and achievability Target completion date: Early 2005.

13. Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal 13 Long-Term Water Strategy Sustainable Water and Sewage Systems Act (SWSSA)  SWSSA is legislation that provides for the implementation of full cost recovery for municipal water and wastewater services in Ontario.  Regulations requiring municipalities to comply with the provisions of the Act have not yet been developed.  Efforts underway to obtain expertise to develop background research and analysis required for the development of regulations under the Act
