When anarchy struck Italy after WW1, he and his party were invited by the Italian King to form a government in 1922. l The Fascist regime took over all aspects of Italian life and tried creating a new “Roman Empire.” –This culminated with his brutal invasion of Abyssinia in 1935, which drew condemnation from the League of Nations, and prompted Italy’s withdrawal from the League.
