3 Building Tensions with the State Dept.  The “Fantastic Rumor”  The State dept has many conversations with Jewish leaders about keeping quiet  The State Dept. tells Switzerland to stop sending them information about dieing Jews  The Bermuda Conference delegates

4 The tension with the U.S. State Dept and U.S. Treasury evolves  U.S. Treasury finds out that the State Dept. is undermining rescue efforts to help the Jewish refugees  The U.S. Treasury found the State Dept. guilty on multiple accounts of.  Concealment and misrepresentation  False attempts to save the Jews

5 Attempts That the U.S. made to help Jewish refugees  Negative  The S.S St. Louis carried 937 Jewish refugees, the were denied access to U.S ports and went back to Germany.
