Krzysztof Tomczuk 2 1.Presentation of the Electric Traction Department. Electric Traction Department is a part of Electrotechnical Institute IEL. We are on Polish market since 1946. What we are doing: - Researches of the new types of AC, DC, SR high power traction motor drives, - Modernisations of old waste energy locomotions to new power save systems drives, - Long-term ground potential measurements in Warsaw Ungerground and Gas Pipelines for the metal construction parts corrosion protection. - Video, passenger communication and visualisation systems, for local passengers transpotration, - Static AC to AC, DC to AC, and DC to DC Power Converters for power supply of the all onboard railway vehicles systems.

Krzysztof Tomczuk 5 3. Power converters for railway vehicles supply. Our power converters works properly in the polish locomotives, tramways, trolleybuses. There is no problem for us to create every kind of power converter according to our customer needs. Power converter for locomotive: 2400Vdc to 3x380Vac 22kW, 3x380Vac 5.5kW, 3x380V 5.5kW, 220Vac 3.3kW, 220Vac 220W Power converter for tramways and troleybuses: 600Vdc to 230Vac, 10kW for pumps, fans, extra equippment

DC to DC Motor Power converter PTK-105 600Vdc 250A, manufactured by WOLTAN company on licence of the Electric Traction Dept.

Krzysztof Tomczuk 7 4. Warsaw Underground. Voltage potential measurements for short circuit localisation and metal parts of tube corrosion protection. During short-circuit the voltage potential value locally increases. It causes that the all metal parts which are in the ground starts to take the corrosion much faster than without short-circuit. All we can do is to measure a voltage potential along the tube and analyse it. This is very problematic, because electromagnetic noise from tramways, power transmition cables and sun radiation (also) cause that the localisation of the short- circuit is very difficult. We have a lot of experience in the corrosion protection, and we are open for the our partners’ problems in this field including pipe lines, power transmission cables, etc. Photo of the tube during voltage potential measurements. Our Project Idea for the HUNPOL-TRANS According to the point 3.14 of the Research Areas for HUNPOL-TRANS project which is: Objective 3: Rebalancing and integrating different transport modes. 3.14. Development of vehicle and vessel concepts for both passengers and freight, characterised by interoperability and inter-connectivity, for cross-operation between different transport routes and networks supported by advanced mechatronics, on-board electronics, information and communication systems. Red colour means what we are interested for !!!

Krzysztof Tomczuk 9 Double-Voltage Onboard System Drive For Tramways and Local Trains. OUR IDEA: PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 1 ). Researches and creation of the double voltage power converter for ability of operation of local trains in the local city tramway supply network. 2). Researches and creation of the double voltage power converter for ability of operation of the city tramways in the railway supply network. The values of the voltages and output power depends on the our partner needs.

Krzysztof Tomczuk 10 Idea 1: The local train type: SA109: Powered by Diesel Engine 190-235kW We wouldlike to operate this train in the city tramway network were rated voltage is 600V DC and in the railway 3000V DC network. That’s why there is need to create a 400kW double voltage power converter. OUR IDEAS (2 Examples): Double-Voltage Onboard System Drive For Tramways and Local Trains. Idea:2 The city tramway type: 105N2kp: Rated parameters: 600V DC, 160kW We wouldlike to operate this tramway in the railway network were rated voltage is 3000V DC. That’s why there is need to create a power converter from 3000Vdc to 600Vdc, 200kW. This solution could be in the service of local train lines up to 50km from the city and could be in work instead of power waste energy local trains. This is only an example. We can operate in every type of supply network!!!

Krzysztof Tomczuk 11 What we can offer and what we need !!! According to the point 3.14 of the Research Areas for HUNPOL-TRANS project: 1. We wouldlike to take a part in creation of consortium which can develop a railway vehicle characterised by interoperability and inter-connectivity. 2. Our job will be researches, designing and implementation of full electric equipment for railway vehicles. 3. For the power converter which I mention before we have to take a special researches to slove all technical problems. 4. We need to find a partners to the consortium. Our project idea is very flexible and can be change for the patners’ needs – THIS IS ONLY OUR IDEA.
