1 Connected Farm TM Scout In-Field Mapping At Your Fingertips

2 Connected Farm Mobile App New App for in-field mapping utilizing your device’s GPS. Map boundaries, paths, points and perform scouting activities. Upload data to your Connected Farm account or Farm Works. Data can be viewed both places Installs on Android or Apple phones. –Selected models of Android phones with GPS, running Android 2.2 or later –Apple iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, running iOS 6.0 or later

3 App Details  Map field boundaries and calculate area (acres or hectares).  Switch between logging paths, points, and polygon areas.  Enter scouting attributes for pests, weeds, diseases, crop condition, log severity of problems and capture NDVI.  Capture and geo-reference digital images to document and identify pests, field problems or field features using the smartphone’s built-in camera and GPS.  Manage your data by client, farm, and field names.  Send data to Trimble’s Connected Farm web solution for free online access, or transfer it into Farm Works™ Office software (version 2013).

4 Steps for Smartphone Field Data Collection 1.Set up a free Connected Farm account. 2.Download the free Connected Farm app to your smartphone. 3.Collect data and log in to your Connected Farm account to view mapped data.

5 Step 1. Create An Account  Go to http://www.connectedfarm.com **http://www.connectedfarm.com  Select “Log In or Register” to create account **Compatible with any desktop web browser including Microsoft ® Internet Explorer, Apple ® Safari, Mozzilla ® Firefox, and Google ® Chrome.

6 Step 1. Create An Account  You will be taken to Connected Farm login page.  Select “Create an account”

12 Step 2. Download App to Phone  Go to location on your phone to download apps  Android uses Google Play Store  iPhone uses the App Store  Search for Connected Farm  Download FREE App  Open Connected Farm App

13 Step 3. Log In to Account to View Data  Go to http://www.connectedfarm.comhttp://www.connectedfarm.com  Select “Log In or Register” button account  Enter email and password to login.

16 Create a Boundary  Boundary defines a geographic area of a field.  To begin logging boundary, tap Play.  Red line drawn as boundary is created.  Turns to yellow when boundary closed.  To: –temporarily pause logging, tap Pause. –resume logging, tap Play. –program draws straight line from previously logged position to current position. –stop logging and auto-close boundary, tap Stop. –finish the job or save the data for later, tap Done.

18 Mapping Scouting Data  Scouting data defines point, line or area feature of an attribute in the field.  Points, lines and areas can be classified by: –Crop Condition –Disease –Insects –Other –Weeds –NDVI_fp –NDVI_ref

19 Mapping Scouting Data  To log a point, select the Flag button.  To log an area or path, Tap Play, select Area or Line to start logging.  To: –temporarily pause logging, tap Pause. –resume logging, tap Play. Program draws straight line from previously logged position to current position. –stop logging and auto-close area, tap Stop. –finish job or save data for later, tap Done.  Once you have tapped Done you are prompted to Send, Save for Later, or Delete

41 Take a Photo  Capture an image and automatically assign coordinates without opening Map & Scout Job.  Tap Take a Photo.  Do any of the following: –To take the image, tap the camera icon. –Tap Retake to retake the image. –Tap Use to use the current image. If you select Use, this will delete the logged information.  The image is sent to connectedfarm.com and shows up in Other category.

42 Take a Photo Uses phone’s camera screen. Adjust photo parameters as you normally would taking a picture.

43 Finishing a Job  Once you have tapped Done you are prompted to Send, Save for Later, or Delete: –Tap Send to complete job and send data to Connected Farm web server. –Tap Save for Later to save job to complete at a later date. –Tap Delete to delete logged information. –Tap Cancel to return to mapping job

44 Finishing a Job  Before sending data, you are prompted to assign Client, Farm, and Field information before the job is sent. –You can choose to leave fields blank or create a new client, farm, or field (select Add New).

45 Assign Field Information  Tap Unknown text to call up keyboard and enter text  Check Client/Farm box to add data fields –Typically used when scouting for multiple farms or customers  Field area calculated off of boundary creation

48 Pending Tasks  Option only displayed if items marked as Save for Later. –Also available if the device cannot connect to the internet and cannot send data  To complete pending job: –On the main screen, tap Pending Task. –Select task from Unfinished Tasks list. Task is loaded and displayed as when you last saved it. –Tap Play to continue logging. –When finished mapping, tap Done. –Once you have tapped Done you are prompted to Send, Save for Later, or Delete

50 Verification Email  You must click on link to associate your mobile device with your account.  This will only occur the first time you send data to the server per email address.

51 Settings  Measurement settings –Unit System: Select US or Metric. –Area Units: Select Acres or Hectares. –Length/Distance Units: Select Feet or Meters (after many feet or meters, this will display as Miles or Kilometers)

52 Settings  Mapping settings –Auto-Close Boundary: Enable or Disable. –When enabled, program automatically closes a boundary or area when you are within a set distance from where you started.

53 Settings  GPS Recording Intervals –Enter Minimum Time and Minimum Distance that need to be traveled before the program logs a position on a path or in a boundary/area.  A position is logged when BOTH conditions are met.

54 Settings  Theme settings –Flag/Area: Change color as required. Select from Bright, Neutral, or Dark.

56 Settings  Help –About Connected Farm: displays the version installed. –F.A.Q.: calls up a manual at your fingertips. –Send Feedback: opens dialogue to type question or feedback and sends as email to connectedfarm address.  Feedback e-mail also includes the device serial number and other details which can be used for tech support.
