3 S Setting The setting in the Giver takes place in a Utopia that becomes a dystopia. With strict rules that everyone obeys no matter what. It is said to be a perfect world and once you become old enough you become “released.” Which is the equivalent of dying in our world. They live in a neighborhood with houses and schools like we do. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=the+giver+community&um=1&hl=en&safe=active&tbo=d&rls=com.microsoft:en- us&biw=1366&bih=600&tbm=isch&tbnid=MKAlghn2O4I2VM:&imgrefurl=http://picturebookreport.com/category/the- giver/&docid=9suyOviVnYwg6M&imgurl=http://picturebookreport.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/9.jpg&w=841&h=905&ei=E0aqUNXfA unu2gX3wICgBQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=2&vpy=124&dur=62&hovh=233&hovw=216&tx=65&ty=139&sig=105099967311221152894&page=1 &tbnh=126&tbnw=117&start=0&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:71 3
