What ever will we do for the next 36 weeks? Mr. White 6 th Grade Earth Science Introduction Day 2

Grades A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 (Not Considered Passing) F = 59 and Below – Not Passing

Grading Policy No excuses, due dates are due dates. You should make every effort to hand work in on time. If you turn in work late the following shall apply: 1. 1 Day Late – 1 Letter Grade Deduction, therefore A quality would receive a B. 2. 2 Days Late – 2 Letter Grade Deduction, A quality would receive a C. 3. 3 Days or More Late – Maximum grade you can get is a 50%. The only exception is if you are absent and an assignment is due, you have the number of days you are absent to turn in make up work.

Grading Policy It is your responsibility to request, complete, and turn in make up work. I will not remind you. All assignments for homework should be written down in your agenda with due dates. You and your parents can check your grades online, make sure that both of you have your login information. Parents may contact me at my school e-mail address: richard.white@cobbk12.org richard.white@cobbk12.org

Project Based Learning You will be responsible for a great deal of the knowledge that you acquire, I will show you how and where to find it…but the rest is up to you! Each unit we cover will have an overarching theme and at the end of the unit, you will turn in a project related to this theme. You will be given instructions, a rubric, and a due date. Group projects will be graded as a group, and each member will be given a participation grade by each of their fellow group members. You will have choices in most projects about how to complete them, what the finished project should look like, and how it should be presented.

School Polices and Expectations The first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes of every class are dead time, no one may leave class during these times. At the end of the day, you may not leave class until your load is dismissed. The bell does not dismiss you at the end of class, I do. Horseplay is prohibited. Keep your hands to yourself. During restroom breaks you will remain in line, and silent. Breaks will be timed. We will leave for lunch at our assigned time and return at our assigned time.

School Polices and Expectations During lunch, you may talk but you will keep the noise level to a whisper. You will not be allowed to use the restroom during the time we are in the café. If you want something from the vending machine you must ask before we begin walking to the café. You will get your tray and sit at your assigned table. Once you are seated, you will not get up again. If you bring your lunch, there are no microwaves for student use. You must bring food ready to eat. Also, bring your drink or get one from the café, you will not be allowed to visit the vending machine once we are seated. You will clean up after yourself in the café, and we will not leave until our tables and area is spotless.

School Policies and Expectations You are expected to clean up after yourself in my classroom Rewards will be given to anyone that I see picking up trash in the hallway or elsewhere. Rewards will also be given in accordance with PBIS rules and policies. Bring notes after every absence, unexcused absences mean no make up work. Do your best, behave your best, and we will give you our best!

Any Questions?

What is Up for Tomorrow? What is research? How do I do research? What is acceptable research? What is a copyright and why do I need to know about it?
