3. OBJECTIVES

4. Foster and strengthen the sharing of knowledge relating to the dynamic processes of ME (multicultural Education) and CDT (Cultural diversity training) among professionals involved in education. Objectives:

5. Construct and Develop a Principle Multi- Dimensional Program that promotes curricular reform for multicultural education and cultural diversity training in HEI in IL, GE and consortium EU members Involvement of key stakeholders, faculty and students.

6. Test the pilot program in all HEIs in IL and GE and integrate the program within their curriculum. Pilot the program in targeted European Members of the Consortium (GER, AUSTRIA and Netherlands)

7. Disseminate the designed and tested programs: universal educational modules that can be used in any HEIs culturally specific modules for HEIs in IL and GE ; teacher-training workshops for the faculty of HEI ; teaching materials; and outside of the classroom activities for the students that promote inter-cultural relations.

8. Develop and create a portal that facilitates the quality of work, communication, materials, dissemination and sustaining of the program among members and beyond.

10. Professional Educators of Teachers will have strategic models for multicultural educational training and developing cultural competency among students of education and teachers. Professional Educators of Teachers gain life-long skills which they pass on to their students and teachers (domino effect).

19. Course development teams have been developing their educational units and material. The rationale for the courses have been defined. Units are being developed. Curriculum Assessment Team has created a TEMPLATE that all courses must use and relate to. Curriculum Assessment team is finalizing the tools to academically assess the courses and is preparing a bibliography related to curriculum issues and a glossary. Quality Assurance Team has been monitoring our work from the first consortium meeting onward and has created questionnaires, conducted observations of working sessions, gathered data and described data relating to the overall functioning, management and communication within DOIT. Main Results Achieved To Date (October 15-May 4 th ) Sustainability Processes to Date Sokhumi State University has used courses developed through DOIT to create a new minor discipline in “Intercultural Education” which is presently being assessed for program accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. They are integrating courses next year in their Master’s Program of History.

34. FUTURE PLANS:Dissemination and sustainability through the portal Portal is the central meet point for dissemination within the consortium. The launching of the PUBLIC Portal will be the key point of dissemination beyond DOIT’s consortium. Commitment to keep the portal up and running after the life of the project (continuation program is in the planning).
