3 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 BUSINESS PLANNING PROCESS Development of the 2008 – 2010 Business Plan The processes to be utilized in the development of the 2008 – 2010 Business Plan include the following elements :  Consultative Workshop with all stakeholders Review Current Vision, Mission, Values, Core Value Define Strategic Directions Develop Goals and Objectives Identify Performance Indicators, Timelines, Accountability  External Survey by Oraclepoll  Community Safety Forums  Input from the Community Solutions Team  Internal Survey of GSPS members  Review 2005 – 2007 Business Plan

4 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 COMMUNITY VIEWS Previous Community Safety Forums Previous Forums have identified the following concerns:  Problems with youth  Officer presence and visibility  Traffic related concerns (speeding vehicles, snowmobiles & ATV’s)  Property crime (break and enters, thefts)  Need for more patrols and increased police visibility  Need for additional police officers

6 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 POLICE – CALLS FOR SERVICE Ward 2 (Walden, Lively, Copper Cliff) n 2005 = 2,051 calls n 2006 = 2,280 calls  Increase of 11% n Represents 4% of our annual call volume (55,000 calls for service per year)

Lalonde Centre - District 2 n Police, Fire, EMS, Emergency Operations Centre.  Operational in Spring of 2007 n Storefront Officers will deploy from LEL n 14 additional officers for Greater Sudbury possible through the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services  Safer Communities - 1,000 Officers Partnerships Program

9 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 SERVICE DELIVERY MODEL District 2 n No Reduction In Service  Storefront offices will remain open and officers will continue to utilize them  Officers will: Remain in their zone for their tour of duty Respond to Uniform calls for service and related assignments in their zone Work when required in storefront  Number of Uniform patrol officers assigned to the zones will remain the same  Volunteers will continue to work at the Storefronts

10 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 SERVICE DELIVERY MODEL District 2 n Benefits  Added new officers and dedicated functions to our Rural Police Team Rural Community Response Unit (3 additional officers) Rural Squad (5 additional officers)  Enhanced police visibility throughout the zones  Additional patrol time  Increased enforcement

11 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT UNIT n Rural Squad will work in conjunction with the Traffic Unit to increase visibility and enforcement in the outlying areas through the use of specialized equipment  Increased trail patrols with snowmobiles and ATV’s complaints  Enhanced Marine Unit means more coverage on area lakes and waterways  Traffic complaints in the zones will be responded to in a more timely fashion  Traffic enforcement will be enhanced

12 Our Community ~ Our Commitment Notre communauté ~ Notre engagement Community Safety Forum - 2007 VOLUNTEERS n Volunteer Program is currently under review.  Enhanced volunteer opportunities for citizens residing in all outlying areas n Volunteers will continue to work at Storefronts n Storefront locations may receive infrastructure improvements
