LEARNING In Geography, we ’ ll be finding out: About restaurants in the local area Where our food comes from Which foods are produced locally How food travels to the shop or supermarket About different types of farming What happens on a local farm In History, we’ll be finding out: About popular foods from different periods of history What sailors and explorers used to eat when travelling In Technology, we’ll be finding out: How to make bread and butter How we can present food to make it more interesting How to create a healthy fruit sundae How to make freezer jam How we can make models of farm machines In Society, we’ll be finding out: About different diets and food requirements About different countries and the role of food in their celebrations and traditions In International, we’ll be finding out: About local food and customs in the host country How special events are celebrated in our home and host countries In Science, we’ll be finding out: How fruits and vegetables grow How we can grow our own food in the classroom Why a balanced diet is important How to store our food properly What is inside a breakfast egg and how we can cook it

7 SCHEDULE WEDNESDAY Leave BESA at 08:00 Arrive at the hotel between 11:30 - 12:00 Check in, orientation, fire drill and lunch Visit the Alaadin Hill, Selçuk Mosque and Palace Return to hotel, shower and journal recording Dinner at 19:00 Lights out between 20:30 and 21:00

8 SCHEDULE THURSDAY Leave hotel at 08:30 Visit pasta (makarna) factory Eat lunch at the factory Visit Çatal Höyük Return to hotel, shower and journal recording Dinner at 19:00 Lights out between 20:30 and 21:00

9 SCHEDULE FRIDAY Leave hotel at 08:30 Arrive at the Mevlana Museum for 09:00 Eat traditional Konya Kebab Leave Konya at 12:30 Arrive back at BESA between 16:00 – 16:30

10 TRIP INFORMATION Ensure you have completed all forms and given a photocopy of ID document. Ensure the children have packed accordingly in a bag they can carry and identify. Be at school at 07:45 to load luggage on bus. Remain in Ankara. Keep phone on. In case of an emergency during school hours contact the school, outside school hours contact your class teacher. Children will not go to club on return. Children will not take service buses. Any prescribed medicine should be given to Mrs. Kokcu on the morning of departure.

11 TRIP INFORMATION ESSENTIAL KIT LIST Luggage containing: Indoor shoes. A change of clothes for the evening and travelling. Casual clothes for Çatal Höyük – it is dusty! Enough underwear (socks and pants). A toilet bag: toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb/brush, any necessary toiletries etc. Optional extras: Small games, reading books, camera. Staff will not be responsible for any electronic games or equipment lost, stolen or damaged. Watch. Pocket money (50 TL) in a named, sealed envelope or purse please to your group leader!
