Self-Acceptance The ability to appreciate yourself as you are...as God made you. Don’t be ashamed of your weaknesses. A healthy acceptance of weaknesses means that you are not wasting energy defending them. Be realistic about your limitations. Focus on building your strengths.  E. 5 Mini-Me Accepting Strengths and Weaknesses
You have been given a cardboard cutout representing you. Use markers to list some of your strengths on the front of the cutout. Beach Ball Challenge Making good choices in life is constant work, just like keeping a beach ball in the air. Never think that good choices will happen easily, or you’ll end up dropping the ball! Developing Meaningful Relationships To have a friend, you need to be a friend. Be trustworthy and honest. Don’t gossip. Learn how to apologize: “I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. It won’t happen again. What can I do to make up for it?” Have a good sense of humor! Choose friends who share your values. Bring your friends home for your parents to meet. 8 Signs of A Possibly Unhealthy Relationship
Someone is making fun of you or putting you down. You are hiding activities you do with someone from your family. Someone who is not the same age as most of your friends is suddenly giving you a lot of attention. You feel someone is trying to get you to do something that you know is wrong? You feel controlled. 9 Bullying Survival Skills
Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed. Remember that bullying is not permanent. Understand several facts about bullies. Try to blend in. Tell a school official. Get active. Healthy Eating What do you need for a growing body? What are carbohydrates, proteins, fats? How often should you eat? What are healthy snacks? How much food does a growing body need?  E. Fulham, St. Paul Catholic School, DOSP

Sleep Is Not Optional Children of all ages need sleep to grow. Growth hormones are released during deep sleep. Brains need sleep! Brains recharge during sleep. People vary on how much sleep they need. Middle school students are encouraged to get about 9 hours each night. Avoid stimulating activities at least 1 hour before bedtime. Reduce caffeine intake at least 6 hours before bedtime. Know what relaxes you, like turning off the television/computer and reading a book.  E. Fulham, St. Paul Catholic School, DOSP
