31 Individual Task-- 1. First write out your definition. Paraphrase the definition in your own words.. 2. Summarize in your own words the viewpoint of your group. 3. Determrine three valid reasons why this viewpoint is held by this group.

35 British Columbia is a Multi- Cultural Province. Why is this the case? Where did early immigrants come from and why did they come to B.C?

36 Learning Outcomes: Today you will identify factors that supported immigrants coming to British Columbia, and the contributions these groups made to our province.

37 Task 1: You will be assigned an immigrant group to study: 1. Kanakas 2. Black Immigrants 3. Jewish Immigrants 4. Chinese Immigrantse

38 Task 1: Continued Read the appropriate section for your group..(231-238) Identify push factors, pull factors, obstacles and contributions.. Push factors- are reasons to leave your country Pull factors- are reasons to immigrate existing in your new country.

39 Task 2- Group Work Join together with other representatives of immigrant groups and fill out organizer: Students should have a minimum of two points per topic 6.7- A Province of Diversity Together answer questions 2 and 3 on the back of your L.M6.7
