 Address - the stance of the golf player before hitting the ball  Backswing - The backward part of the swing starting from the ground and going back over the head  Bunker - A depression in bare ground that is usually covered with sand, also called a "sand trap.”  Cup - another name for the hole  Divot - a small piece of earth that is scooped up when an iron shot is played right

 Fore - The warning shout to the players or spectators in front when a shot is played  Pin - another name for the flag placed in the hole  Handicap - A system used in amateur games, where bonus strokes are used to enable players of unequal ability to play on equal terms.  Tee - A disposable device, normally a wooden peg, on which the ball is placed for driving. Also refers to the area from which the ball is hit on the first shot of the hole. Originally a pile of sand used to elevate the ball for driving.

 Driver - The longest-hitting club, used primarily from the tee when maximum distance is required. Also called the No. 1 wood.  Iron - Any one of a number of clubs with a head made of iron or steel

 1, 3, and 5 woods should go long distance and mostly used off the tee.  1- driver  Used off the tee box  Longest club  Farthest distance  3 & 5- Fairway woods  Used on the fairway  Higher the number, higher the loft of the ball

 3 and 4 irons are long distance irons that will go less than the drivers, and should have low to medium trajectory  -5 -7 are intermediate distance clubs with medium to high trajectory

 8, 9, SW, PW are short distance clubs where the ball should have a high trajectory  SW- Sand Wedge (used in sand bunkers)  PW- Pitching Wedge (used to get ball on green)  Putter, used only on the green in putting situations

 Par- pre-determined number of strokes that a golfer should require to complete a hole  Birdie - One under par for the hole  Bogey - A score of one over par for the hole. To play a hole in one stroke over par.  Double bogey - A score of two over par for a single hole  Double eagle - A score of three under par for a single hole.  Eagle - Two under par for the hole - e.g a hole in one on a par 3, or a two on a par 4 Hole123456789Out Par54434534436 Score64325732437 Holes 1 and 5 would be considered a bogey. Holes 2, 7 and 9 would be considered a par. Hole 3 and 4 would be a birdie Hole 6 would be a double bogey Hole 8 would be an eagle

 Hook - To hit the ball in a manner that causes it to curve from right to left in the case of a right-handed player or left to right for a left hander.  Slice - A shot that curves strongly from left to right as a result of sidespin. The converse applies to a left-handed player. (hitting the ball too in front of you)

 Who Am I?  Each student will receive a post-it not with a name on it. This will go on the student’s forehead.  DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR POST-IT NOTE!!  Each post-it contains a name of a DISNEY character  You will go around asking other students ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions. Ex: Am I a person? Am I an animal? Am I a girl? Keep asking questions until you figure out ‘who you are’  Object of activity : communication

 Human Knot  Get in a circle  In the circle, each person grab someone’s left arm. Then grab a different person’s right arm.  Objective of the activity: to get out of the knot by communicating with each other and maneuvering over/under people to become a big circle.
