3 Sea of Galilee Located at the north part of Galilee Not a sea, but a lake 24 km long and 11.2 km wide Also called Lake of Tiberias

5 Jesus loved the Sea of Galilee Jesus met the first apostles Peter, Andrew, James, John on its shores Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes for the crowd on its shores Jesus did the Sermon on the Mount near the Sea of Galilee (Mount of Beatitudes) Jesus calmed the storm that almost tipped over Peter’s boat Jesus walked on the water of the Sea of Galilee

7 Sea of Galilee in Modern Times One of the most important freshwater sources in Israel today More than 20 varieties of fish in the lake The most famous fish is called St Peter’s fish (tilapia)

13 Jesus rested at the Jordan River Jesus was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist in the river Jesus drank, relaxed, and rested on the banks of the river Jesus crossed the Jordan many times, and believers crossed it also to hear him preach and be healed John the Baptist did a lot of his ministry here

14 Jordan River in Modern Times 30 species of fish are found in the river, and 16 are unique to it 23 of the 45 species of birds found in the Jordan are found nowhere else

16 Solomon’s Temple The wise king Solomon built the most beautiful temple to honor God The people loved to go to the temple to worship God and sing hymns of praise Jews celebrate the feast of the Passover in Jerusalem once a year Jesus (age 12) was in the temple talking to the elders, and found by his parents after 3 days
