Have you read in the Gospel how Jesus healed the sick, and how He was concerned about the needy?

Jesus performs miracles

The first miracle He did was at Cana. A couple was celebrating their wedding. During the feast, they ran out of wine. They have no wine, said the Mother of Jesus. Jesus asked some men to fill the jars with water which He converted into good wine.

One day, while Jesus was walking with His disciples, He saw some men about to bury a young man.

His mother was a poor widow who was crying because he was the only son.

Jesus had compassion on her, saying: Don’t weep. Then, he went to the dead man and said: Young man, I say to you, arise! And the dead man began to speak.

Jesus is God like His Father. That is why He has the power to perform miracles. Navigating through the sea of Galilee, a great storm arose. Fear fell upon the apostles, thinking they would perish. But Jesus stood up and ordered the wind to stop. There was a great calm. They talked to one another: Who is this, even the wind and the sea obey Him?

While Jesus was walking through the streets of Jerusalem, He met a blind man. He spat on the ground. He made clay out of the spittle. Jesus put it on the man’s eyes, telling him: Go and wash.

He went and washed and came back seeing. Neighbors and acquaintances began to argue if he was the blind man or not.

Jesus’ fame spread to many places. Everybody wanted to see, hear and ask Him for help. One day, He was preaching from the shore of the lake on Peter’s boat. When He finished, Jesus told Peter and Andrew to put out into the deep for a catch. Peter answered: We toiled all night, and caught nothing. But at Your word, we will let down the nets. At that moment, the nets were so full such that they broke. They filled the two boats with the huge catch. Lord, convert me into a fisher of men like Peter.

One day, the Apostles told Jesus to dismiss the crowd so that they could buy something to eat in the nearby villages. Jesus replied: You give them something to eat. Andrew said: There is a boy here who five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many? Jesus took the loaves and the fish, looked up to heaven, blessed and distributed them. Everyone ate their fill and twelve baskets of fragments were gathered.

Jesus performs miracles to show that He was truly the Son of God, and that He was God like the Father. He also did them to show His mercy and His love for men, especially the needy. THE END
