1 Language Arts: This week we will continue our theme, “Weather and the Seasons.” We will explore how there are four seasons, and that weather changes at different times of the year. We will discuss story elements using theme related literature. Our high-frequency word for the week is what. Our word family for this week will be the –ip family. This week the students will be assessed on identifying letter sounds. Academic Vocabulary : experience, hibernate, clear, cozy, retreat Math: This week we will finish up our unit on addition and subtraction and begin the next unit that focuses on identifying, describing and classifying two- and three-dimensional shapes. Activities also continue to reinforce counting to 100 by ones and tens. Academic Vocabulary: square, triangle, circle, rectangle, hexagon, cube, cone, cylinder, sphere, rectangular prism, rhombus, length, weight, depth, attribute, face, side, corner, stack, roll, pattern blocks, and attribute blocks. In math this week, the students will be assessed on counting objects to 15. Announcements: **Family Learning Night : We are in the process of planning our annual Family Learning Night to be held on Tuesday, February 18. We are always looking for new ideas that benefit our families and would love for you to share your thoughts on topics to be included in our Family Learning Night activities.
