2 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC HUMANITARIAN TRIP – MARCH SPRING BREAK 2015 10 Day Humanitarian trip including Building Teaching/Sports Program Playing

3 A DAY IN THE LIFE… You will also have the opportunity to work alongside Haitian refugees from the town of La Union a village that we have worked in before.

4 SITE SAFETY Considerations: I have led 5 other service trips and your child's safety is in the forefront of every decision that I make. We work with a partner based in the Dominican Republic who has the respect and experience with local population Live Different staff are trained in construction, and experienced with working with groups of young people First aid is available on site and access to a US medical facility is close by Students are not allowed to wander on their own

5 SOME OTHER INFORMATION GI has grown over the past four years at Carson: 10 Houses 1 Medical/Dental Clinic 1 Latrine Over 300 students have participated in our program in the past 5 years at Carson Graham We work in communities in which we are known and with development partners who we have built a positive relationship. CLASS RUNS FROM 3:00 – 5:00 SOME WEEKENDS

6 GLOBAL INITIATIVES 2015 Our focus is on leadership, personal engagement through student lead initiatives, service, teamwork and trip preparation using the service learning model. Open to students in grades 10, 11 and 12 Priority will be given to students who have completed CI and are enrolled in The GI program. Program enrollment is mandatory to be allowed to participate in this trip. Tuesdays/ Thursday are the chosen days

Students who are not afraid of hard work People who want to make a difference Students who want to learn about culture, history, service and leadership through an invaluable travel experience Students who are open to new ideas and acting as servant leaders in their local and global community WHAT THIS CLASS IS NOT: Just a resume builder A group to save people Easy

10 ACCOMMODATIONS We will be staying in Sosua by the Sea Accommodations are clean and safe Hotel has 24hr security Each room has a safe Clean drinking water is readily available Food is tasty, safe and prepared daily
