Interpret drawings of domestic structures

Drawing Layout The drawings on the next two pages show how a construction drawing can be laid out to show the relationship of the plan drawing to the various elevations. The plan should normally be directly underneath the front elevation. The section drawing should be in line with the front elevation so that the vertical spacing of windows can easily be achieved and the ridge height identified. Drawings are normally printed on A1 sheets at a scale of 1:50 or 1:100. You may also include enlarged views of special details such as chimney flashing, head or sill details etc. A high standard of presentation should always be achieved including using different line type thicknesses. The lines shown in green will be printed out black but at a line type thickness of 0.15 The scale should always shown on the drawing.
