1 Heath and Safety Contractor Induction

2 AUTHORISATION TO WORK No work should be carried out unless you have been given authorisation from your host Contact your host via Reception Your host will provide a health and safety induction Sign in – your host will assist you with the completion of the authorisation to work register and issue any permits to work Obtain your Contractors Pass which must be worn at all times Work in designated areas only On completion of your work notify your host and please sign out on the authorisation to work register On leaving site: your Contractors Pass and any permits to work must be returned to Reception

3 WORKING SAFELY All Contractors must adhere to the RNCM Contractors Code of Conduct. If you have not seen a copy of this you should request a copy and read through it before starting any work If given a corrective action from the College you or your management must take action immediately

4 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES - FIRE On hearing the fire alarm:- If a continuous alarm tone sounds, evacuate the College by your nearest, safest exit and proceed to the fire assembly point on the over ground car park (marked on the College Plan) On discovering a fire: Raise the fire alarm using a break glass point Proceed to the fire assembly point on the over ground car park (marked on the College Plan) Remain at the fire assembly point until given an instruction to return to work

6 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – ACCIDENT/INCIDENT Report all accidents/incidents to Reception and your host.. For first aid treatment call Reception on Extension 300

7 HOUSEKEEPING, SMOKING Working areas must be cleaned and rubbish removed at regular intervals Food must be consumed in the restaurant area only Smoking is not permitted in the College. A smoking shelter is provided on the over ground car park

8 Asbestos Location 1 Asbestos board is contained in some of the wall cavities between the offices and rehearsal rooms in the Main Building Level 3. Do not drill or work in these cavities or on the inside walls of the entrance lobby’s to these rooms.

9 Asbestos Location 2 Asbestos is contained within the material fabric of the Opera Theatre stage fire curtain. This has been sealed and is inspected annually. Do not drill cut or fix anything to the curtain.

10 Asbestos Location 3 Asbestos cement board is contained in the first 3 light fittings on the upper level of the Opera Theatre disabled seating area. This should not be disturbed. If a fault occurs with any of these fittings, other than a lamp change the asbestos will have to be removed by a licensed asbestos removal company.
