2 Examples Noun: To graduate is a student's primary goal. Adjective: Mr Tanger would be the one to ask. Adverb: The guests stood to leave.

3 Present perfect form In addition to the previous structure, infinitives have a present perfect form Example: To have solved the problem would have made the research worthwhile The original goal was to have been finished with the project by noon.

4 The Infinitive Phrase An infinitive phrase consists of an infinitive and its modifiers and complements. The entire phrase can be used as a noun, an adjective or an adverb

5 Examples Noun: Bruce's dream is to travel to Africa Adjective: Have you had the chance to sample this authentic tortilla soup? Adverb: Are you ready to give Charles his instructions?
