Analyze Scenes: Movie ‘Up’ 7:20~9:48

The reason for why I choose this movie scenes: -I wanted to study about how to make my family shows really close to the audiences. I’ve realized that how much Care and Ellie always have eye contact. Tell the audiences how much special when wife and husband together (two people to one person). Memory of only for two For these love scenes, even the Care is main character Ellie was leading the shots (bossy, active) (show how much special to Care)

One point perspective Framed by background wall The light focus on Carl and Ellie Also from the audiences sits, Ellie’s family is brighter than Carl’s family.

Group shot Lighting helps the personalities. So the Ellie’s family is very bright.

Group Shot Carl’s family is very quiet, dark and calm.

Establishing shot Longer shot to let audiences catchy up the scene. Those two big trees side by side of the house give perspective, depth. Vanishing point Color: Warm (fall by trees (can tell the weather by mood of environment))

Long shot Two point perspective We know what is going on in the house Lighting of depth (half dark half bright) Size difference (active wife is leading the husband and Wife is more active and happy about the life) by looking at the window is on the Ellie side

Full shot Bright Frame with window for Carl and Ellie (Still on the honeymoon very hot moment) Light is pointing Carl and Ellie

Over the shoulder shot First focus on where this couple is making a memory and then slowly zoom out to show both. (active wife is leading husband) Down to up The line between Carl and Ellie Carl is green Ellie is purple

Establishing shot One point perspective The one tree on the left lead us to look at the house By tree’s color it also tells the time passes. (surrounding can help to show time passes)

Long shot Zero point The space shows and tell where characters going. Lighting: bride bright husband dark

Establishing shot Foreground, center, background Can tell where the place leading us. Tell where they work

Carl is more happier than Ellie by telling the window is on the Carl side

Extreme Close up shot Objective shot Flat space I felt the scene wanted to show us the strong visual look. (important baby)

Long shot Flat space One point perspective Very bright warm color The bird with baby pointing the Ellie (baby is coming toward to mom)

Long shot Group shot Color of dark and cold One point perspective Layers Fore, centre, back Why did they use? To show how sad to lose baby. The blue light leading us to focus on what kind of situation going on inside of square.

Framing with window. Carl is alone

Over the shoulder High angle to low angle Watching Ellie from the back Ellie is looking the other side of Carl

Carl is coming direction from where Ellie is. Block Ellie to cheer up with the adventure book..

Extreme Close up shot To make sad mood to happy mood. Show the goal of this couple Turning point to follow their goal

Over the shoulder shot Carl is leading Ellie to another goal to make Ellie happy. Ellie is leading Carl to collect money

The lines of windows pointing Carl. The curtain in the middle is supporting Carl to show. What I am thinking is the reason of pointing Carl is to show that Carl is promising Ellie’s idea.

Ellie is left to right Carl is right to left

Extreme close up shot Objective shot (the hand of wife feels like my hand) (The center of tie) The belt is framing the tie How much love can tell from this shots (for my grad film I could use this kind of scene to tell how the time pass)

Subjective Shot because this shots make audience to focus on two characters emotions. The conversation between only two.
