1 To look at what happens in a Muslim, Christian & Jewish wedding ceremony. Think about the clip that you have just watched – What does the clip show that marriages & weddings are all about? What do you think that marriage & weddings should be all about? In Britain today, 1 in 3 marriages end in divorce – do you think marriage is an old fashioned idea that isn’t suitable for today’s society or is marriage still a good idea? You are communicating & problem solving…

2 You are problem solving…  Write the title in your books… Wedding ceremonies in Christianity, Islam & Judaism  Everybody needs a copy of the text book – ‘New Steps in Religious Education: Book 3’  You’re going to complete some research about wedding ceremonies in Christianity, Islam & Judaism.  You’re going to produce 3 brainstorms in your books – 1 for each religion. 3  Think about all of the features that you have found out about Christian, Muslim & Jewish weddings in today’s lesson.  Which feature do you think is the strangest or the most interesting? Explain your answer.  One of the features that we found out about in Muslim weddings is that they can be arranged marriages – this is especially true in Muslim countries.  There are positive & negative points about arranged marriages (remember an arranged marriage is not the same as a forced marriage), you need to talk to your friends & the people that you live with & find out 3 positive points & 3 negative points about arranged marriages.
